Persuade me to buy this game please.

Not bashing the game at all, just the simple fact I didnt get to play the beta as much as I hoped and was only able to get to about level 12 as a healer. I got to the first dungeon but was completely murdered at the start. Im not sure if I was going in to early. I was hoping to get a bit further to experience things other than the starting zone.

Myself, and i think many others (since they already talked about redoing the intro of the game) didnt really get into the game because the starting zone wasnt all that amazing. I dont want that experience to keep me away but then again i dont wanna invest my time not knowing what other hardcoe beta players experience. Any imput will be appreciated. What am i looking at on my adventure post level 15? Im not even sure what the beta cap was. Also, i was a healer but im not sure i was the right race or class/weapon for it. Any recommendations as a "must start" for healer? Thanks guys!

They dont exactly go into the gameplay details :/

The beta is the time for players to see if they enjoy it and continue on by buying it. Sadly I didnt get far into the beta and just got to the first dungeon. I didnt even get to hit pvp. Is the game in a stage where its gnna be fun right off the back to enjoy, or should the game be given a few months to get established?

Wow, tough crowd.

This game just clicked with me when I played it. I like the environments, I like the design decisions, I like the class setup and the combat. AvA is a great addition as well, and gives me DAoC nostalgia.

I played a Templar Healer in the weekend betas, and I found it difficult to get used to as well. I didn't set myself up entirely for healing; I probably could have picked my skills better, and the first dungeon (Spindleclutch) was pretty difficult for our group of 11-12s (with one 9, until the last boss). That's a plus though... in most games the first dungeon is a bore. There's nothing to do but spam the three abilities you have at that point. In this game you need to position, react, and learn the encounter from the beginning.

I haven't played an MMORPG since Warhammer Online's release, and this was the one that dragged me back to the genre. It's different enough to be interesting, and feels more like a small scale multiplayer experience at times.

Cuban,

The starter zone is just that a "walkthrough" to help you familiarize yourself with the game.. I would not base my decision based on that zone alone...

1. Graphics for a MMO are great.

2. Sound for a MMO are great.

3. Envirroment atmosphere, moon cycles etc, very well done.

4. Voice overs and story/lore lines very well done. Buggy but will be fixed in short time after release.

5. PVP just as fun as DAOC if not better actually better, and that is just on launch.

6. Crafting system very good.

7. Chatting tools , grouping mechanism , instancing/phasing design very bad..

Weigh all the good and bad and then formulate a decision. For me the good outweighs the bad so for me I will support the game and team too see what they can do with the bad and future of this game. If I no longer feel it warrants my support I leave pretty simple or I am having fun I stay pretty simple really.

It is not that expensive, add up your TV bill for a month and it will cost you more than a month of play. Give it a month really delve into this formula after really playing and testing it out then decide.

More importantly have fun no matter what your decision. After all this all about our entertainment... I love that quote "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?" , good movie ... carry on..

For me the game was fun since I started, but after lvl 10, hitting dungeons, pvp and seeing the other areas. It really made me believe the game is worth even more. And made me feel like http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/shut-up-and-take-my-money, So I preordered.

Thanks. So you kinda experienced what I did as a healer. At that point I wasnt sure if healer was all that great. From what I read, it gets a bit better with more leveling. Is templar healing the ideal healing job?

I know, its for testing the game. I could also say that atleast 85% of the testers apply to "preview" the game and dont report any bugs.

Thank you. One last question I have. Is this game centered mainly through group play, or can a lot be done soloing? Im more of a FFXI mmo player that enjoyed having to do ALOT of things grouped, the game was never really solo friendly.

Many people that participated in the Beta events have whole heartedly accepted this game. Many have not. It's hard to convince someone to play a game or not, you need to make up your own mind on that question.

As for the starting areas / low level play, there has been some concerns from some people about this issue, but in reality many MMOs have this issue. A lot of that is just people getting used to " the way things work ".

I personally found the first few levels of progression flew by, and from about level 8 and up I was having a blast.

During the Beta game time I was involved in, I managed to get two characters going, one level 20 and one level 12. I did find things, by level 20, to be more engrossing mainly because I was getting to know and understand things better.

So take this as you will, and good luck with your decision.

Not gonna persuade you to buy it. If you like MMOs, and you like elder scrolls, and if the cost is something you can afford, give it a shot. If you like elder scrolls and hate MMOs, you might like this game. If you like MMOs and hate elder scrolls, youll probably like this game. If you hate both, why are you here.

I was in the same position as you after my first beta weekend, I didn't instantly like it and felt like it was never going to get better. Then I watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I82pz60iGL0 by Angry joe about the PVP and took his advice about the Aldmeri Dominion having a better starting area. The next beta weekend I made a new character and had a lot more fun. I finally got into the PVP this last weekend on yet a third character, and couldn't get enough of it. Have the Imperial edition pre-ordered, which are both things I rarely do.

Also worth mentioning I've never played MMORPGs, I'm coming at it from a ES fans perspective.

This is what I was looking for, the point that i got up to in the beta was ok, but not amazing. I was wondering if I was right there on the verge to finally get to the bigger and better things and finally get past that "tutorial area" where all low level mmo players first face.

There are a lot of streams and videos out there of different builds and load outs doing late game and veteran level PvE and also a number of PvP videos. They should give you a really good idea of what the game is about and has to offer. If you're still not convinced, wait until it's released, read some reviews from reviewers you trust, play a friend's copy. Not sure what anyone could write in a forum that would convince you (or anyone) one way or the other.

I can tell you I enjoy it. But that shouldn't really mean anything to you or anyone else that doesn't know me and my gaming habits.

haha i liked this post. I been following teso mmo since its early production and have completely avoided getting into any other mmos. Its been a long wait and I hope it gives me the same fun that FFXI did for 8 years. thanks!

good to know that others experienced the same thing i did.

As another said, beta is not for preview but for testing. And what I mean by that is this, a lot of people know there is going to be a wipe, so don't bother trading/selling, they don't bother grouping because they are checking out other stuff. There is a totally different mindset when the game is live, when it's live things matter more since there will be no wipe. So don't take your beta experience as how the live game will be.

EDIT: Also when it is live, only people willing to PAY for the game will be playing and they will care more about the game and most likely more helpful.

Dear Cuban,

What did you get to try out in the game? There are a ton of different things to keep you occupied, from solo questing, exploration, and gathering of materials/crafting; to completing PvE content or partaking in PvP in Cyrodil in a large group or as part of a guild. If you didn't have much time in the beta sessions it is possible that you didn't get to see very much of what the game has to offer.

However it is not for me to tell you whether you will like the game - we are all individuals and have different tastes.

If it is any consolation, some of the dungeons can be tough at level 12 (even if they are marked as level 12 content), level 14/15 might be more appropriate. Some of us like more of a challenge, and if it is too difficult go away and level up a bit by doing other quests or exploration to gain some more XP then come back a bit later. If you are with a group, how well your group works together can also be a factor.

yeah i didnt get to play much of the beta, and the little time i did play, i think i didnt really get up to the point where i was able to say "now its time to have fun" i think i was still stuck in that low level mind set where the game was still teaching me the ropes. I think i speak for myself and other mmo players, but when you been playing mmos for so long, you just wanna get out of that learning area asap lol. I dont think i got out of it tho.
