Really love the mod, thanks for your hard work for it.
1.42 seems to have introduced an issue though:
Regardles what dispo the npc has and what option i choose, he/she always insta kicks me out of converstation, as if I had a 0% disposition.
Reverting to 1.41 which still does fine for me.

1.42 isn't working either. To test, I talked to Maelorna in Anvil and intentionally struck out to see if the bribe button would work, but I had a really hard time getting her to zero disposition in the first place. Usually the conversation would end but she'd be left at or above the disposition she had before the last attempt. I did eventually get her to zero, presumably by landing right on zero disposition with the last attempt, but the bribe button was still disabled.

I am sorry, but the SCA npc are still not showing the "Clues" (perk messages).

All other NPC are showing their clues.

But...

wait, maybe I am not using Version 1.42, I will double check.

Edit: No I really am using 1.42, I looked at the read me file in my data folder and that is the rev on it.

Somehow I've lost this mod as I cannot seem to find it in my loadorder. No idea why as I like it alot. Stupid vanilla persuasion minigame is about as hard as killing a rat with a master destruction spell. <_<

Although I never used the 'light' version, again, no idea why. :P

But.....is version 2.0 still being actively developed or is it on hiatus until you have more time to work on it? :unsure: Regardless, I'll be looking forward to it.

@spookyfx: Hmm suggests its something beyond my control. Those npcs must be missing something important. Only thing i can think of is there disposition is something really weird/ unusual to mess up the scripts. Unless i look at them myself i guess is only way i could find out why.

@OnmyojiOmn: Bribes work for me perfectly now. Whats your mercantile skill?

@Willi Wiper: eee not sure whats happening but there might just be an upgrade issue? May need to clean install the mod or use new version on a new game. Even though you shouldn't need a clean install for such small changes.

It's a new character, probably one or two points above starting skill for an Imperial. It sounds like I'm having the same problem as Willi Wiper, plus whatever's keeping the bribe button disabled. Am I missing something about how bribes are supposed to work?

Strange, even a new char/game doesn't fix 1.42 for me.
Just replaced PersuasionOverhaul.esp (letting the bsa untouched), nothing else.
New game, persuade a 50% char in IC -> "go away fool" :)

Hey everyone i can confirm 1.42 is bugged in that it always exit the conversation whatever option you choose and plays the negative message. It applies the correct disposition change its supposed to be though.

@OnmyojiOmn: Your mercantile determines how easy it is to bribe. At low mercantile its costly to bribe and you wont be able to bribe disposition that high (hence button disables). At 100 mercentile it will be exactly like standard oblivion bribes.

I should still be able to bribe at very low disposition, though, right? The bribe button is never enabled, even at zero.

They (9 SCA NPCs) range from 20 up to 98 dispostion when I check them.

Does quest stage 15 need the 'SetStage Persuasion 16' ?

Thanks for this discussion, I was so lost on why I couldn't bribe any one. Now I get it that I need speechcraft and mercantile skills above certain values to be able to bribe.

@ThunperZ: Indeed that was indeed the issue. I Must have forgot to compile the script before saving (or i just missed it out completly :facepalm: )

@OnmyojiOmn: Maybe you just dont have enough money for it :shrug: It disables automatically if thats the case.

This is one of the very few mods I use that I do not make myself.

Could it have something to do with the 'no persuasion' flag being set for these NPC's?

ok, well....for now....forget about persuasion not working with my Hammer-Blade mod.

For some reason it all of the sudden starting working again.

:shrug:


Unless I get a report from other players that there is an issue I guess there is no reason to
look into this if you have other priorities to work on.

I know "Intermittent " issues are a real pain in the butt to troubleshoot so I do not want to bother you with this at this time.

@ThumperZ: That would prevent persuasion not working at all which is not the case. Persuasion was still active but no perk messages showed up. Only the persuasion topic uses the persuasion flag.

@spookyfx.com: that is bizzare :confused: I'm none the wiser as to why but at least its working at least occasionally.

There appears to be a conflict between Enhanced Economy and this mod.
When persuading shopkeepers, the disposition on top of the screen gets one 'turn' behind on what the disposition currently is.
If i leave the persuasion menu, and enter it again, the starting disposition is displayed correctly again.

Example: PC starts persuading NPC->PC tells joke.-> NPC hates it, but disposition stays the same.->
PC admires->NPC likes the compliment, but the disposition displayed lowers as if PC told the bad joke from before.

This only appears to happen to shopkeepers when i turned EE on. Does anyone know what causes it?

That's odd. I have used the two together, but I have not used the more recent version of EE, not since January really.

Edit: Have you made sure EE's menus have not been overrided?

I remember usng this mod a long time ago but I had to uninstall it because it was incompatible with Companion Share and Recruit. When I tried to recruit a companion the game would CTD or freeze, but removing this mod helped with the issue. I would like to use it since pursausion is crap in Oblivion as it is, but have the incompatibility between this and CSR been fixed?

I'm using the latest versions of CSR and Persuasion Overhaul and do not have a crash issue Cassandra.

I do have the delayed disposition update issue though, and am using the latest EE.

Oh jeez, I totally forgot about this... SM, did I ever send you my version? I've been running with it active for nearly a year, pretty sure it's solid. I don't believe I poked into every corner, but I bet a TES4Edit side-by-side of yours and mine would leave little left to do.
