Perverted and sixual humor in games

Post » Fri Sep 25, 2015 3:14 am

So, who else loves this kind of stuff in games? Be it plain creepy, or sneaked into a game oriented for younger audience, I love it when I run into one of these.

From milder examples, like a scene in Ratchet and Clank where a pirate taunts the main character by telling him to do something if he's got the stones. His robot companion asks in confusion "I don't get it... what are stones? Do I have them?", to which the main character replies "I'll explain you later. Aaand no.", to very creepy ones like a grandpa in Pokemon Crystal who stares through a window of a house in which there are little girls, and if you talk to him he just says "hehehehe".
I'm not even getting into a man in Morrowind who has to sign you a document, but refuses to do it before you get naked and kiss him. According to my friend he enjoys it even more so if you are also male. Or an altmer slave with a leather mask.

Then there's Metal Gear Solid, and posters of asian models you can kiss, and at one point it's implied your character beats the junior at one. And there's one character in 3rd game that realizes you're an imposter by grabbing your nuts, and it turns out that the man you're pretending to be is that guy's lover, and in 4th game they implemented the ability to grab balls of guards you have on hold at gun point. I could go on here as MGS series as a whole has tons of weird crap like this.

Anyway, share your favourite moments! :D

everything in moderation i suppose

a few such jokes and references here and there are great, can often work as good comedy relief and give you a chuckle, and on some occasions can even make the world sort of feel a little more real..

however, if the dev puts in to much of that kind of humor, it can completely backfire, and make it feel like the game is targeted toward the 13 year old "look, boobs!" crowd..

thats my view on it anyways

Oh I love anything sixual provided it is arousingly naughty, witty, and has good timing rather than being ambiguously creepy and frivolous.

With anything in a game, I would like it in moderation.

If it's there okay but if it's not okay. I mean the internet is simply relentless about this kinda humor so I won't die without it in my video games.

Why not. As long as it's unexpected, it works.

A good example from Oblivion:

Spoiler

"I'm the only alchemist in Skingrad. Not much business here, but I can't go back to Morrowind. It's just like anywhere else in the Empire.

By the way... do you happen to know what the fine is here in Cyrodiil for necrophilia? Just asking."

"Is it the first offense?"

"Let's assume 'no'."

"Then it's at least 500 gold."

"That's nothing compared to Morrowind. Thanks."

Oh yeah, that one's great. I especially loved how we are given the option to actually know what the fine is. :P

Saints row is one that gets me, especially the f-69 V-tol and that tank with the very inappropriate barrel.

I do agree though that some games take things a bit too far when it goes beyond funny and just becomes immature.

I don't mind some sixual humor in my game (that's why I like Teen to M rating games) heck Quiet has become a favorite Metal Gear character due to her sixiness.

The more violence, blood, guts, nudity, prevision, profanity, dark and dark humor the better.

Depends on the style & tone of a game, I think. And it can be taken too far, too gross/offensive/crude, etc.

Of course, that line is different for each person.

(That Ratchet & Clank example, for instance, doesn't seem like much at all. And it fits the mid-to-late-teen-cartoon style of the game series.)

I'm in favor of anything that is appropriate to the characters, setting and story.

I was under the impression they were advlts. Or at least teens. I suppose it isn't exactly clear with the anime style.

And in the quest journal, your player notes what the penalty for grave-robbing is too, without ever being told that. With these two things together, I believe we know why he was in prison in the first place.

A lot of games I find the supposed sixual humour fairly juvinile. Bethesda have been better than other game companies in that respect.
