Peryite: daedra quest for "good" characters?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:35 pm

So, im playing a good character. And i didnt think any of the daedra quests would be possible to complete without a bit of evilness.

I would usually save before i tackle one.. And if it has the slightest bit of "evilness", id stop and reload my save and move on.

So i found the shrine, and began to do this quest...
As im playing through it, it dawns on me that, in actuality, im doing sort of a good deed.

I mean, granted, im being a puppet for a daedra prince... But the task im doing is cleansing the world of the afflicted and a twisted mage. And, yeah peryite will eventually find someone else to become that twisted mage and start this afflicted crap all over again, but for now, isnt it good that im removing this current afflicted infestation?

Anyone else feel this way? Id like to hear some of your thoughts...
Thanks.

Hmm. Haven't run across Peryite in this game so far. I do Azura and Meridia (my toons are always "good aligned") - and even though Dagon is NOT a nice guy, I do his thing too, because I get to tell him NO, and then kill his dremora and clean out his shrine (over and over....)

I'll have to go hunt up Peryite. It might be one of the "okay" ones, just from what you posted....

Yeah, that one is pretty mild for a Daedric quest. You're doing his bidding by ridding the world of one of his cult leaders along with all the other Afflicted you fight along the way, but that's it. Sounds like a quest that a good character would gladly accept from anyone else, the cult and its leader seems pretty evil and intent on spreading their affliction.

Unless you're doing something for Mehrunes Dagon, Molag Bal, and possibly Namira, Boethia, Sheogorath, Nocturne, Hermanious Mora, and Mephala, you can't say you're doing "bad" by followind the orders of a Daedric Prince. They, like the Aedra (AKA gods) are well above mortal ideas of good and evil; most actions will be on the neutral side of things. Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal however are pretty bad even when considering they're following a morality system not based on good or evil as we understand it. Prince of Destruction and King of [censored] are titles for them, after all. The rest aren't neccissarily bad or evil, but are known to send people on missions that can be morally questionable.

It's easy to put a positive spin on "The only cure". The afflicted are tormented, if you sneak your way up to some of them, they talk about their misery and how some only wish they could leave (but of course they'll still spit goo at you on sight). You also get to kill the guy responsible for spreading the disease. And honestly, who is Peryite going to send to kill you? Not sure about anyone else but I'm a level 67 arch-mage/werewolf/harbinger/master thief/master assassin with all my shouts unlocked+maxed out with full daedric gear and almost top level enchants and potions.

He's pretty screwed if I tell him to piss off when the orders come, if they ever do in DLC.

Yeah, but that's only in Skyrim. Remember, in Oblivion, you had to fufill a prophecy to scare away a town of Khajiit, and don't get me started on the morally questionable (but neccissary. Probably.) stuff you needed to do in Shivering Isles.

About Daedric gears, what is your armor rating (4 pieces) without shield? And what about your daedric weapons at level 67?

Yeah, Sheo just reminds me of an Alice in Wonderland character. Demented, at worst.

Sanguine is basically just a Motley Crue member.

Meridia isn't bad at all. Just bombastic.

Don't have the full armor rating in front of me but all 4 pieces are legendary with the heavy armor bonus perk +25% and +20% from juggernaut (only one perk on it). So about:

+56 armor boots

+56 armor gauntlets

+108 armor plate

+71 armor helmet

I use Daedric sword (legendary) with Maximum one handed perks, +40% ring, +40% necklace, and +40% gauntlets. It's around 250 damage without enchantment effects.

The only thing "evil" about Peryite's quest is (IIRC) is that you're paving the way for a new high priest for him because the one you remove has gone rogue, but you don't actively help him recruit or install a new one.

I'm not sure I'd even consider the Mehrunes Dagon quest evil because Silus Vesuius seems evil to me. :P

Pretty good.

At level 70 I still remain with my Glass (light) Armor

Boots 342 Increase Stamina 74 pts. Incr. Fire resist. 56%

Gauntlets 342 Increase Magicka 74 pts. Incr. Light Armor 29 pts.

Armor 768 Increase Health 74 pts. Health regen. 37% faster

Helmet 369 Increase Magicka 74 pts. Magicka regen. 74% faster.

But I changed my weapons from Glass into Daedric

Sword 202 Burns 36 pts. Mag. dam. for 43 pts

War Axe 205 Silent moons burn 36 pts. Paralyze 5 secs

Dagger 193 If dies 18 secs fills soul gem. Burns 10 pts. Paralize 5 secs

But I have a Daedric shield 222 Increase Fire resist 54%. Incr. Frost resist 54%. I also still use Spellbreaker against tough Necromancers.

I have a Daedric Armor set as well as a Light and Heavy Dragon Armor set but they are in a cupboard as I'm still happy wearing Glass. It's so nice like emerald and gold...

Yeah, no. He is sending you off to get revenge on a guy whose only crime was trying to quarantine sick people and treat them. Meanwhile did you notice the vats of green goo? Certainly he hasn't given up on his plan to spread his "blessing."

I get the feeling that Meridia is actually a divine, and good.. She's just annoying, so they kicked her out of the club.
