Pet Peeve Annoying Creatures

Post » Mon Feb 23, 2015 8:54 am

This is so you can post a list of the most annoying creatures you hate fighting in Skyrim.

In my list, you will find (In no particular order, except for wolves):

1.) Wolves

-----------------

-Frostbite Spiders

-Chaurus (Hunters and normal)

-Falmer

-Snow Tigers (Even though they aren't weak)

I'd like to hear your lists.

Not sure what you find annoying about these ... I engage or retreat depending on the strength/level of my PC so my feelings about these various creatures varies. They often make good targets for new spells, soul trapping, or improving armor and blocking skills.

Cliff racers!.... wait...

I find trolls and sabre cats to be annoying at low levels, because they can drain your HP so fast.
And dragons when they refuse to land.

This is the only thing I would consider annoying...this and when you've been fighting them awhile then they fly far away to attack something else.

I wouldn't land either if I were a Dragon :P

But yeah on wolves, not as bad as cliff racers .. but close in my opinion. And chaurus, they're creepy and I seem to have a harder time with them than most other animals.

Sabre cats at low levels are annoying because they not only hit hard, but are also difficult to get away from

Yup, only one of my characters has Dragonrend so Dragons can be a right pain with my other PCs.

Bears. I don't know if it is just me, but they seem to be louder than other creatures. Everytime they roar, I have to turn my volume down. Not to mention there seems to be one behind every tree and they attack you on sight.

And also mudcrabs because I have a fear of crabs.

Ice wraiths, by a country mile. They're nippy and if you're fighting more than one at a time it's hard to keep your defence up as they dance around you!

Ice wraiths, and dragons who don't land sum it up. I like the challenge of sabre cats, its actually the cause of my very first death in skyrim. I was on my way to rorikstead when one of them jumped me and my follower was no where to be found (Faendal) but oh well, I kick their ass now lol.

Yep, Ice Wraiths and Dragons too scared to land. Both are just sort of tedious. An honorable mention to any mage type enemy spamming ice spells while running backwards, ye gods that drives me insane. Basically any enemy type that runs away or makes itself hard to hit, in any game, is high on my list.

I actually like Wolves as they're a guaranteed source of pelts for leather, and I'm always making new armor pieces from various mods. Also, my characters think of them as a food source.

This volume issue is the only one that seems justified as an annoyance. All the rest of the comments would fit more closely with how difficult it is to kill the creature or survive an attack. I play without sound now (had the sound on for the first year or so) and only turn on the volume now when some dialog requires it.

Developing a basic instinct regarding how difficult it is to beat an opponent is one of the rewarding parts of the game. You start with wolves, trolls, chaurus and work your way up to bandits, giants, Falmer, Dragon Priests, Dragons etc. This just feels like game-play to me.

Not sure about others, but for me difficulty has nothing to do with annoyance. I listed wolves as annoying because they seem to be everywhere, and when I'm in a hurry and just can't be bothered to stop, well I end up having to stop because some annoying creature is now attacking me. Yeah I can stay out of the aggro radius, but more often than not the place I'm trying to go is on the other side of them, and I'm not making a huge arc around them just to avoid a wolf. And they chase everything, so even when my path wouldn't normally cross them I end up having to waste my time on these gnats because they chased and killed some animal near me and now aggro on me. Its just really annoying that I know I will have no choice but to waste my time on EVERY wolf I see. I just wish they had a better AI for wolves so they'd act more like they do in the wild.

Good point - I do get annoyed when everything is always chasing you. I don't play with FT though I use the carriages and ferryboats. I meant to touch on this issue earlier - you gotta get a horse. That way, you can outrun the creatures that jump out of the bushes. Of course, a horse has its own drawbacks. Shadowmere is the best choice in the vanilla game for me so far. The horse you rescue from the Soul Cairn (can't remember his name) is also a good option.

If you're on PC; there's a mod for that:

I use that mod and they still get on my nerves :D I think it's just bad luck on my part, they always seem to be right where I need to go. And like kami12 said, I really do need to just use a horse and outrun anything I find annoying. Not sure why I stopped using horses in Skyrim.
