A Pet Peeve Of Mine-A Glitch In The Calculation Of Play Time

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 8:11 am

When you first boot up the game to start a NEW game, there is a glitch in the calculation of time of when the actual playtime starts when you start a new game....For example you start the game....your on the TITLE screen and listen to the intro music and then watch the credits and then adjust the options then before you know it 30 minutes passes by before you press the NEW button to start the new game....but instead of the playtime starting at the time of pressing New, the playtime actually has started once you first got on the title screen to listen to the intro music and watching the credits and adjusting the options so that by the time you press NEW the playtime would show you played the game for 30 minutes before ever pressing NEW to start a new game....this only happens when you start a new game....ALSO another glitch on the Xbox One it shows under the Xbox One player stats that I played 34 hours but in actualality I have only played for 16 hours,,its just that I have left the game on the title screen for 18 hours more in duration and its being counted as playtime....please fix your glitch in the software programming!!!

Why does it matter?

And as for the second bit of that, its fairly standard for leaving the game running to count as "playing" time. Even if you are not.

False statistics can help a company/corporation sell more product. "Fallout 4 has 50,000,000 players with combined 7,842,013,352,592 hours of playtime!" sounds better than "50,000,000 players with combined 972,528 hours of playtime". Or maybe Beth/Zenimax wants to know a little more about your gaming habits than they are letting on [I don't see why, they have Steam for that]

So on average players only play about 1 minute for the game? Also, I don't know of anyone that would spend an average of 1790 years to play the game. I seriously doubt that going afk counts for more than 10% of the total game time for a player. So while it might have an effect, there are other variables that have a larger effect.

False statistics representation. You are NOT playing the game while sitting in the main menu paused, this time should not be counted towards "GAME PLAY TIME" - that means the time spent PLAYING THE GAME, not "MAIN MENU PAUSE TIME".

I don't think I can make it any clearer than that.

Those numbers were used as an example. Obviously.

Isn't this a technical limitation of the console? It does not know what is happening inside each game, right?

I have written a letter to my local representative, asking him to address this urgent issue.

Lol I have lots of play time in Skyrim construction set as I had it minimized for some weeks

Currently have FO4 paused and minimized as it uses 4 minutes to start

Let's be clear here for just a second so there's no confusion, Xbox tracks the amount of time a game or app is running, this does not involve or have anything to do with what you are doing in game. Bethesda or any game company has nothing to do with this so if you have a problem with this, refer to Xbox live support. Secondly, the amount of time shown in fallout when you go to "save/load" is your amount of play time in-game and not paused.

Is this thread for real?

Even if it weren't working exactly as intended, which it is, this doesn't matter.

To be honest its a pet peeve of mine about the playtime calculation it goes back to the 1980's in my pre-teen and teenage years when during that era of playing arcade games there was always this emphases in playing the games on who has the fastest best play through time in the arcade games that since that "Arcade Years" of the 1980's I have been obssessed in watching my own playtime play through in making sure that my playtime is accurate in calculation like its a badge of honor in watching the playtime
