Pete Announces Prize and Steam For Skyrim!

Post » Wed Nov 17, 2010 10:25 pm

Well I certainly hope it's not an exclusive Steam release because you'd kill about half the expected user base off from buying it immediately

thats highly improbable.

I'd sure like to know the statistics of how many modders actually adhere to the "modder etiquette".

Almost all of them, seeing that the BSAs are easily overridden through archive invalidation without directly altering their contents, and the Construction Set/GECK and Elminster's xEdit app won't let you alter the main ESM unless you trick the app into doing it.

The ones that don't usually end up having more than a few incompatibility issues that the users will bring up.

Do you even mod? Any modder beyond the newbie stage would know these things.

Allright, allright. Chill already. I yield, that's one less argument  . But there's still the remaining two.

Bethesda is almost as funny as Valve now. I give them a pat on the back for their nerdy jokes.

Mandatory patching? Switch to Offline mode. It can't patch if you don't connect. I'm safeguarding FONV right now from the impending patch that way to preserve NVSE functionality until the NVSE loader gets its subsequent update. At which time I'll patch right up.

Online activation? Unfortunately, that's the wave of the future. I'm not too keen on it either, but considering the alternatives which involve registry crap that digs into your computer like a tick, Steam (which is just an app like the game itself) is much preferred.

Really folks, this isn't a new Steam thread. It's about naming your baby and winning a prize. Back on topic please.

Double wow. The first one that it's Bethesda that does all the publishing. The second one is that it rocks to be a Bethesda forum moderator in the US  .
And it is on-topic. "and Steam For Skyrim" is written into the title  .

It's obviously a joke, just look at the disclaimer. Bethesda isn't seriously saying we should name our children "Dovakhiin", that would just be dooming them to be teased by others.

Yeah I'm surprised that all sorts of gaming websites seem to pick up on this, it was just meant as a harmless joke-y blog post and it's obvious that that's what it is.

You serious? Guess the jokes on you then. Pete confirmed this on his twitter. In his words this "is legit".

Can I change my childs name after he's born?? :hubbahubba: If not then we'll call him by his middle name

While the offer may be real, it's clearly a joke. I don't think anyone would seriously consider this.

 You really think this is legit? You really think Bethesda is encouraging people to get pregnant and name the child "Dovahkiin"? Really?

On the first page of this thread Freddo said "No joke. It's on the Bethesda blog. And those Steam keys exist, so such thing is very possible."

Also Pete Hines on his twitter said..."Well, it's legit."

Still don't understand?

Ever hear of a think called a joke? Yeah its Possible, and bethesda will probably give the reward to anyone that does it, but only out of pity. I don't think they expect anyone to go through with that.

Plus a moderator saying its possible is hardly confirmation. I'm pretty sure its a joke.

You really think Bethesda is encouraging people

They already did encourage by offering a legit reward. Too late. When you propose a contest and offer a legit reward does that not encourage someone to do said proposal? Exactly...

:sigh: I don't think you get it. Name one person that would ACTUALLY embarrass there child by doing this. I'm pretty sure no one would. And anyone saying they are doing this is a liar. Bethesda knows that.

When 11/11/11 comes and no one has done this, I will know. Possibly a middle name, but I doubt it.
