Isn't it sixy, really tempting to get, for 80$ too? jeebus, and dem Maps, I'd just be getting three of them all over again but..I dunno its just something I'd like to have sitting on a shelf, never opened.

I like it too and I'll probably get it.
In my case I don't care if I end up in another set of all TES games, because I had a hard time to make an old game to work with the DOSbox emulator and now I don't have to do that just buy the collection then install it and play.
Kinda sound like an old saying of how to install mods in Morrowind back in the golden era of the modding community.
If it's just Knights and Shivering with Oblivion, well, just grab the deluxe GOTY edition from Steam instead. This sounds very nice, and physical maps for Arena and Daggerfall would be nice (as well as official, physical, media) but I'd effectively be paying £50 for two free games I've downloaded prior, three games I brought anyway (in Oblivion's case, twice - once the original GOTY and then the deluxe edition), and two paper maps. I'd not be surprised if they pull the Daggerfall and Arena downloads, for a while at the very least, though - so get 'em while you can!
Gah! And I was pretty pleased with myself for getting the GOTY editions of Oblivion and Morrowind on a Steam Sale a few months back.
If only I was the collector type, I'd get it just for the maps and the sweet box. C:
On one hand, it suggests the idea that there won't be anymore singleplayer TES games, but on the other hand, I've http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/topic/3707-rebuild-the-dark-brotherhood/ on the Dark Creations forums that the Dark Brotherhood Chronicles team got in touch with Emil Pags (don't know his last name) and talked about his intentions with the Dark Brotherhood, whatever that means.
I don't know, I've been under the impression that Skyrim may possibly be the last Todd Howard directed (and perhaps even the last BGS-developed) TES, but if it pans out to be true that Todd Howard will forgo doing TES VI in favor of doing a new IP (like I suspect may happen, but won't know until it happens), I don't know if that means that there'll only be ESO or if a new studio, particularly one with former BGS members, may take over the singleplayer series.
Anyway, potentially grim implications aside, it is a good and tempting deal, though my only beef besides already owning all the games is that Oblivion doesn't come with ALL the official add-ons once again. I have no idea why they are so allergic to including them in any retail release of Oblivion.
Im still fairly new to TES and dont know a lot about BGS's policy, but why would Skyrim be their last TES? the elder scrolls is like Bethesda's gem. no way they'll abandon it. especially now with the new gaming technology. As for ESO its just a way of creating a steady flow of cash. i dont think it hints that the singleplayer games are dead.
I cant breath did i really just see the anthology boxset on facebook.
omg omg omg omg omg oh my frigging good golly woggy damn goblin king of a god im in love already own 3 of them but hell i dont care i want its babies.
oh wait will they be hd or original either way i dont care.
Whoever thinks Skyrim is the last single player TES game did not use his/her mind properly when coming to the conclusion. End of story.
While I would have loved Battlespire and Redguard in the package for a complete Elder Scrolls experience, I seem to recall Battlespire having one really bad bug in Level 5 that ruined saved games.
I think this collection is more aimed at newcomers drawn in by ESO more than anything else to be honest. Generally, whenever a new installment of a storied series is announced, new people are attracted to this news, and they often will become interested in playing some of the older games in the series in anticipation for the new entry.
Am I the only person who's worried about this release?
It kind of feels like when bands or singers release a "greatest hits" album; it means it's pretty much at the end of their journey and they won't be making any more new albums...
I wouldn't be surprised if the next news we hear is something like "no more single player TES" or "Todd Howard stepping down"... the team have been together for what seems like forever, at some point they will get tired...
Since when does a greatest hits release mean a band is done?
Skyrim was one of the most successful games of all time. They've built up a huge franchise and to abandon it when it has the most momentum? Wouldn't make sense at all.
TESO, Elder Scrolls Anthology, Bethesda Store, all things that Zenimax/BGS/Beth does because of the growth of the product, not the end of it. Even if the "band" breaks up (i.e. Howard moves on or something) the IP still has an incredible amount of milage left.
They have Summerset Isles, Valenwood, Black Marsh, Elsweyr, Hammerfell. That's 5 diverse games guaranteed to sell extremely well.
Im still frightened.
Bethesda giving up on Single-Player, RPG, open world would be the death of their company...... but Im still afraid.
Yeah, let's keep in mind, Skyrim was wildly successful. Companies are businesses- they don't stop making games just on a whim, especially licenses to print money like TES has become.
It's the "will launch within a DOS emulator" that sold me. That and less dog-eared maps.
What? Redguard NEVER released on the original Playstation. It was PC only.
But there is no indication they will do so. From all accounts these are the games they love to make and they are wildly successful. Probably the most successful single player multi-platform IP in the industry.. not to mention Fallout which is of the same ilk and also heavily anticipated. BGS has literally never done anything else.
This anthology will probably mark the end of the common theme within TES: the Empire.
Anyone remember Todd Howard saying he wanted to reboot the series during the interviews for skyrim?
Perhaps there's something to that. I expect TES VI to be quite a bit of a change from what we've known.
But this is a really good deal for anyone that doesn't have the games. The map of Morrowind is really amazing(At least I hope it's that same map. I wish Oblivion and Skyrim had maps as detailed that came with them.)
I got and played all games, but damn it I want those maps of Tamriel and the Iliac Bay!
I hope the maps have different style than the ones I already got in the retail box of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Atm my only reasonable incentive to buy this is having the Skyrim expansions, which I could buy much cheaper. I need the collectibles in this box to be special.
That's all, disks and maps? A little underwhelming for a $80 package. A sturdy artbook with stunning images from all the games, or a high quality figurine would have been neat considering this is mostly for collectors.
Sounds like the end to me too, but I've always doubted that there would be a #6. I hope the future will prove me wrong.
