Pete Hines announces "Elder Scrolls Anthology"

Post » Fri Aug 02, 2013 4:55 pm

Watching the Bethesda feed from QuakeCon, and Pete just announced an anthology of all the ES titles: Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.

This was literally minuets ago, so I will get a link as soon as someone gets one up http://www.bethblog.com/2013/08/01/the-complete-elder-scrolls-collection-comes-to-pc-this-september/! :D

The Elder Scrolls Anthology comes September 10th (For PC)

Arena and Daggerfall are already free, aren't they (I suppose if these are also coming out for consoles, it has more value)? I would have liked to see an obscure one like Battlespire included.

Personally, I would of liked to see that and Redguard thrown in there.

Thing is, Battlespire and Arena are not TES games in the same way that the rest are.

In fact, of all the games in the series, those are the least liked. Battlespire just had MP before most offered it.

I can understand Redguard not being included since that's PS1, and if they had planned on an emulation solution they'd likely run into licensing obstacles with Sony.

From what I've read, this seems to be PC only. The smaller DLCs like Mehrune's Razor don't seem to be included with Oblivion either. I'm pretty bummed out by this. I bought Oblivion GOTY Edition from Steam but didn't get any of those DLCs from there either. Then I tried buying them from Bethesda's site but they're not even up for sale anymore.

What I am hoping for is these games come with scripted installers, like the one floating around for Daggerfall, that sets everything up for people.

Its good value if you started the series late though.

If it included the various small DLC for MW and Oblivion as well I'd be tempted to get it, if it included Battlespire and/or Redguard I'd defnitely get it.

If it includes ALL DLC for each game, then I'd actually buy it in a heartbeat. If it doesn't, not worth it at all.

I'm talking MW DLC, Oblivion DLC, and Skyrim DLC, ALL of it.

The announcement says " as well all the official add-ons and expansions for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim"

That looks cool, something I will get. :D

Just out of curiosity, anyone have any idea why it is only for PC atm?

Same, I am only missing the Morrowind map :sadvaultboy:

For $80, this sounds great. Even taking into account that Arena and Daggerfall are free, Skyrim Legendary Edition (base game + all 3 DLC) is $60. That means you get Morrowind GOTY and Oblivion + KotN + SI all for $20. Considering it will also likely have user-friendly installers for Arena and Daggerfall, as well as the physical maps (and manuals?) for the games, this is a pretty good price.

Because Arena and Daggerfall are PC only.

Probably because getting Arena and Daggerfall working properly on consoles would be very difficult. Even Morrowind wasn't really designed to work outside of the PC and XBox.

Morrowind and Oblivion GOTY=$19.99 each

Oblivion DLC (not SI and Kotn)= ~$15

Skyrim LE= 59.99

Total: ~$113

Ya, that is a damn good deal!

Only Oblivion GOTY map and Skyrim map (launch day). Didn't know Arena and Daggerfall had a map too.

Derp, didn't even think of that

Sounds like a really good deal.

Arena and Daggerfall are PC only.
And Morrowind was never really optimized for the Xbox anyways. And was never released for Playstation.

If I didn't already have all these, I'd certainly consider it. It's a great deal.

I just hope this doesn't mean there won't be more TES games - "complete collection" sets off my spidey senses.

I'm interested in the maps. I wonder if anyone will sell theirs on eBay. Definitely looking forward to seeing what they look like, either way.

Edit - Oh, and I see the Morrowind map is redone! Cool.

Good, I was not the only one who first thought of that when reading the announcement.

But hey, Rockstar has a trology pack of the GTAs, but only GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. Obviously, there were others after that (Stories, VI and V). So maybe Bethesda is just getting this off their chest.
