Pete Hines Considers "Dragonborn Comes" by Malukah f

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 2:12 pm

I certainly want more songs from the various bards, and the community certainly can provide much better than what Bethesda have put in the game.
Malukah could be one of the persons adding to the the available songs, though I wouldn't want that song in-game.
It's beautiful, no doubt, but it's too edited to fit in.
The bards should be "unplugged". Just the singer and a single instrument. No artificial edits to it.

No? Then I guess the Atom bomb was designed by pothead hecklers shouting, "no dude, you're doing wrong!".

I'm not even sure what fallacy that falls under.

Ummm, WHAT? That has nothing to do with the topic. The atomic bomb is not subjective, it's not open to criticism (the use of atomic weaponry is of course, but that's a totally different kind of criticism).

I'd better not ever hear you criticize anyone on your favorite sports teams again because they are all 100x better than you are. Also, never complain about anything Bethesda puts in their games, because they are so much better at making games any complaints you have aren't valid.

Awesome video they put together.

And if Bethesda is able to find great songs added by their fans they they can integrate into DLC, then why should they pay others for what is only mediocre?

Why pay for DLC when most of these beautiful creations most likely will be available as mods?
Bethesda as a company with finances involved most likely will have a tougher time to legally add such works.

It's tacky to have fans do things for you when they could be done by much more talented professionals. Just look at the Megaman Legends 3 controversy.

Yet, the professionals they got to sing it svcked at doing so.

In another video she honestly went slightly off tune and quite obvious. So besides the rephrase, I don't think the voice is edited.

So if Bethesda want to appreciate their fan this way, wouldn't it be great? Not necessarily main menu song or ost though, so should it go not too well, it wouldn't be catastrophic. Just simply put the voice/songs inside. It's a good appreciation from developer to fans...

Should she be accepted, I think she'd be representing us as fans afterall.

Yay, gotta love being represented by an attention-seeking broad on youtube.
Honestly though, this song is bad and she should feel bad for making the video.

Agreed.

Also not everyone is on PC and can just do their own mods. So if you rely only on mods and don't care about DLC, then you aren't exactly adding much to this conversation about adding a song into their DLC.

Mods? I'm thinking you mean mods for the PC version, right? Last time I checked, the PC was in the vast minority compared to console sales...

VG Chartz also reports that 59% of Skyrim sales were for Xbox 360, 27% for PlayStation 3, and 14% on PC

Those were professional voice actors, not vocalists.

1crit·ic noun \?kri-tik\
Definition of CRITIC
1a : one who expresses a reasoned opinion on any matter especially involving a judgment of its value, truth, righteousness, beauty, or technique
b : one who engages often professionally in the anolysis, evaluation, or appreciation of works of art or artistic performances

Where in that definition does it state that the critic must be better than the person they're criticising at whatever it is they're talking about?

Artistry is subjective, musicianship is not. It requires knowledge and practice and only people who are qualified through years of training are actually capable of "critiquing" another musicians skill to help them improve technique. That is why they have "Master Classes". Since the girl is basically using an unaltered cover, artistry isn't a factor and it's only her musicianship at question here. Unless you're just judging her by looks... There isn't much interpretation at all.

I don't ever critique or even complain about sports, because I am not a professional athlete, trainer, or coach. I know that my opinions are pretty useless on the matter. Every time I hear people talk about sports, I feel bad for them.

True, but most people on the boards here are PC users (see Community Poll, or all other polls on the subject)
Anyway, Bethesda have already stated that they're not going to use small-scale DLC, but rather full-scale expansion packs. So there's not much chance of a "Expanded Bards" DLC coming out any time soon.

I'll use an anology I used before in a similar thread: by your logic, I have to be a trained chef in order to tell if a steak is raw, green, rancid, and riddled with maggots.

But being just a dumb, non-professionally trained commoner who can't cook, I guess I can't tell any difference between that steak and a high-quality steak.

Plus I just hate how she spends the entire video mugging at the camera like it's babby's first music video.

I think the voice is above average, but she is getting that many more votes for:
1. Being female and singing about a game
2. Being good looking

So if the voice was similar but she was male and fat, you bet there'd be a lot fewer views, likes and more dislikes.

In the "reasoning" part. It's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect. And it proves scientifically that you cannot criticize beyond your own level of competence.

@ Wayman, your range of culinary critiques shows your level of culinary competence and proves the point further. Thank you!

Maybe if she redid it. Obviously sounds like a recording, not like a wench in a tavern playing it in front of you.

I bet he was joking somewhat though.

In my opinion it wasn't all that great pretty average by YouTube standards. But clearly to post your opinion here you have to be a expert or you are seen to a talentless loser that svcks at life. So here are my credentials I played the violin and piano for 12 years I speak three languages English being my worst one and I'm in medical school. In my opinion that should be enough for me to be able to share my opinion. But i don't really care if she gets put into the game.

They should add a wandering bard npc that sings her song.
Would be cool if they recorded a hd version at their sound studio.
