Why? Becuase in that way, they could attack to the undefended side of the opponent.

As could their opponents, but they weren't trained to. The shield serves no purpose than being a distraction (which *is *a strong weapon.)

Ergh, i would just love Bethesda to say that you could ONLY be left handed, i wonder if then anyone would be saying "Meh, it's no big deal"

While I think that it would be a nice feature... 90% of the population in the world is left handed, so it's quite reasonable.

Pete made a tweet a while ago. I'm not gonna look for it right now because I'm at work, but I think you can switch it as a menu option if you're a left handed player. It's just that it will be one or the other.

Wow... so much for giving players a choice. I guess I can never make a left-handed character..

You could always just have a sword and nothing in the other, you are still left handed :shrug:
