According to the tweet made just now by Twete Hines, we cannot put shields in the RIGHT hand, only left hands, so lefties are not possible in Skyrim regarding sword and board.
DCDeacon Pete Hines @outerheaven313 You can put weapons or magic in either hand. You can only equip shields and torches in your left hand. Bows as well.
People seem to think we can put shields in the right hand on this forum, this proves you cannot.
so what? why would they spend development time making sure people can choose to be left-handed when there is so much other content to test and get working correctly?
I remember this coming up before, but may have been buried on the forum. I think they just saved themselves the trouble of putting in the animations needed for a true left handed fighter. I've noticed that every spell and weapon duel handed image shows the spell on the left hand and the weapon on the right.
Wow... so much for giving players a choice. I guess I can never make a left-handed character..
You can still dual weild, and I guess it makes sence that they don't want you to be able to have a sheild in both hands so they only allow it in one. Just because with the new ability to bash with sheild you could be vary effective as someone dual weilding sheilds.

but can you use your shield to block with the right mouse button ?
My boy just got a Wii for his birthday, I finally gave in after all these years, so looks like it's gonna be Skyrim for right handed, Skyward Sword for left. From where I am sat, that looks like the best of both worlds.
Doesn't bother me too much apart from how it would be nice to be able to dual wield shields but that was already confirmed a while a go so not too bothered.
I hope that means I can assign the shield to right button (PC, on the consoles it's right trigger right hand etc..) since the buttons there are inverted, for example you use the left button to control your sword which is on the right hand and vice versa. So what now?
