Pete Hines says "We fixed it."

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:58 pm

So after Joshua E Sawyer tried to explain what might be breaking Skyrim on the PS3 by pointing at the issues that afflicted New Vegas, Pete Hines responded with:

"No, it isn't true. He brings up issues we solved long ago."

So... Hines is saying they know what's wrong with New Vegas, they've solved the issues... and yet the game remains unplayable for a number of people who've advanced well into the game's core content and DLC?

If they've solved these issues, why aren't they patching them out of the game? Is there a patch in development we don't know about? Or is Hines simply slinging PR nonsense in an attempt to save face? Because you see, thing is, I've spent well over $90 on New Vegas at this point -- I haven't bothered buying Lonesome Road because I can't even freakin' finish the main campaign or Old World Blues -- and I'd really like to be able to use it as more than a shiny drink coaster.

He's a liar plain and simple they can probably fix it but they don't want to waste time on games that are older like FO3 and FONV though they should patch them anyway.

I was pissed before he said that, but when I had read that, I became livid. My only hope now it that they have actually fixed it and are including it in one final patch when the ultimate version comes out, but common sense and experience leads me to believe that he is a lying sack of poop just doing damage control to protect the company's bottom line during the crucial holiday shopping season.

I would not mind eating crow on this one though, if it means I get a working product...even if it's something like 14-15 months after release. :sadvaultboy:

Yea its a lie. I can vouch for it, so can millions more. Where is this "fix"? Fallout NV for me freezes like crazy. Even worse with DLC installed. DO NOT BUY THE DLC! Anyways, its NOT my system, as this and fallout 3 is the only thing that freezes on my console. in fact so does skyrim. Funny its from the same people...

It will be fixed, or watch whenever fallout 4 comes out, it WILL fail if bethesda dont get trust in there customers and fans back. I use to love bethesda... that is before, they started releasing incomplete, buggy and unplayable games.

How come none of the developers (Obsidian Entertainment or Bethesda Game Studios) ever responds to these forums? You'd think that since these are the official forums they would be reading these threads and responding to them (at least every once in a while).

Because they know were onto them. They release a incomplete game, and there you go. They will never fix the freezing. Its againced PS3 and 360 policy to have a major problem of a game on there, maybe people should let sony admins know... Also i got a refund on lonesome road DLC thank god. I had to do a case by case basis, but got my money back.

This whole forum system is just for show.

I doubt ANYONE from Beth is even lurking through here. We have PC community moderators who lock the 'rant' threads but cant ever get any kind of answer from Bethesda for this broken [censored].

No they haven't fixed this game. I got it back in July (b-day present, I never would have bought it after reading reviews) and it is total crap with DLC added. A blind man could see their customers are dissatissfied but they don't even respond to you. Phone support is garbage, e-mail support is unresponsive and figureheads like Gstaff and Pete Hines are either aggravatingly ambigous and dodgy or flat out lie in your face.

Have to say I'm amazed coming from Skyrim forum to this forum and others. This was my first experience with Bethesda, and I presumed that these patches they are bringing out would be fixing the issues for Skyrim. Now I look here and see that they have the same issues with their previous games, and still haven't bothered to fix them.

Bethesda hang your heads in shame.

And moderators. How you can go round locking threads for them, I'll never know. Lowest of the low.

Obviously J. Sawyer isn't hurt by telling the truth. It's out of his own control to fix a game he made, so of course he at LEAST gives an honest answer as to why his own game couldn't be fixed. That way, we at least know they tried or WHY it's not fixed, so we can feel a little better knowing they at least tried.
But Hines is with Bethesda and he's in charge of public relations. Sawyer's information implies that Bethesda games simply WILL NOT work perfectly with the PS3, so of course Hines is gonna want to downplay that. Bethesda has sales to think about.

Bergman, Sawyer and Avellone used to visit the forums and answer these issues, but now New Vegas is done and they're all busy working on other projects. For what it's worth, those three (Bergman especially) did a great job of keeping in touch with the community.

Honestly, I've never really ran into such a big problem with Skyrim, FO3, or FO:NV. I played Skyrim & FO3 for my Xbox 360, FO:NV for my 360 & now my PS3, and the ONLY problem I've really had with FO:NV, was the first time playing (on my xbox) and it froze up, and had to make a new guy, but my next playthrough went way smoother, and I finished the game. My PS3 hasn't had a major problem yet with FO:NV

Play longer. Of all the titles FONV was the most stable, just stay the hell away from the DLC.

There is a huge disparity between the stability of Skyrim on PS3 and Xbox or PC.

Pete Hines is delusional, deceptive, oblivious, or a liar.

The game is broken. It is less broken during the early game (pre-5MB Save size). It is less broken when the DLC items are not installed.

The game is absolutely broken when the frame rate drops to 1 frame every four seconds in Old World Blues whenever a group of nightstalkers or cyberdogs spawns.

The game is terrifically broken when it freezes after twenty minutes of play when your save file is over 10MB.

The game is ridiculously broken when the number of save files on your system could be a factor in the game's stability at all.

You are definitely right. All of Bethesda's games run best on the Xbox360 and PC. On top of that the dlc always comes out for the Xbox360 first. I only own a PS3 so it does kind of upset me.
