Pete Hines says you can turn off quest targets

This means we are stuck with POI markers, my one pet hate in the hand holding stakes. They just make the map seem smaller.

I do not see a problem with not turning the compass off, but I kinda like the turning off quest target deal, if it is what I think it is :teehee:

People get what they want and they still complain. Bethesda should just develop a game creator. That way everyone can make the game the way they want. Wait, they'd still complain because it would be too hard to learn.

You can turn off the HUD entirely right? On the console?

I don't get the disappointment. You're butt-hurt why?

Cos I don't like games, especially elder scrolls ones, to hold my hand, and it blocks the sky as well. Lastly it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes to put in an opacity/toggle compass option. Just seems very stupid.

So you're making the argument that any sort of hardcoe gamer or a gamer who doesn't want their hand held is a mouthbreathing basemant dweller?
What an ignorant thing to say. My job at the SDZ, my fiance, and my rent payment would like to have a word with you.

So you're calling people, who don't want to waste what little free time they have wandering through the woods only to miss the dungeon by 20 feet, toddlers?

Your argument states that anyone who wants to use a compass is a toddler. What an ignorant thing to say. :P

Fallout is an entirely different game series...keep that [censored] away from my TES

Menu opacity has nothing to do with Fallout...

Absolutely not, and stop putting words in my mouth. I said nothing of the sort. I said the game is now less toddler friendly, IE, handholding. You're being a little too hyper-sensitive for your age.

Awesome, just the option I wanted to hear. I wonder if this is PC only or if it will work for the consoles as well?

Yeah still the only great vampire game ever made imo. Hope Skyrim's new feeding animation is even half as good ;) Ah Troika, why did you have to die?

I didn't say you said that. You don't know my age. I like to put people in their places. You said toddler friendly implying that anyone who uses a quest marker is a toddler and then you try to say you didn't say that? Wow...you're smart....

And to clarify more since you might not get it, the part between people and toddlers that I said was implying why someone might wish to use the quest marker....Way to fail at reading simple english.

:) great news to me. since they are toggleable by definition that means that the quests must have better directions this time around. if the game couldnt be played without the quest arrows ala oblivion they wouldnt have made it optional. this is probably the single biggest piece of news to date concerning skyrim. :celebration:

compass i could care less about. i have a horrible sense of direction in real life but all my characters have idyllic memories and excellent spacial awareness.

LOL well then your mother isn't very nice for trying to hide you away from the world by putting you as far downstairs as possible...unless the house doesn't have room for you to sleep elsewhere in which case meh...

I'm confused, why the hell are ppl complaining? The people who don't want their hands held get what they want by turning off the questmarkers and the ppl who need directions everywhere get what they want, what's the problem?

Have they said whether the compass is going to show important locations/enemies that are near you, like it did in Oblivion and Fallout? I'm happy about the quest markers thing, but I'd still be a little disappointed if my compass still gave me psychic powers and I had no way to turn it off.
