Pete Hines says you can turn off quest targets

They said they show enemies and big towns, but you can't fast-travel to towns unless you discover them, per se.

It's good they have the option on the quest markers, for the people who care about that.

But I really don't get the "damn, still stuck with a compass/HUD" thing.... I truly don't understand the desire to remove basic game information, like which way is north. Staggering around in ignorance doesn't seem terribly fun. Or useful. (or "immersive")

I'm confused, why the hell are ppl complaining? The people who don't want their hands held get what they want by turning off the questmarkers and the ppl who need directions everywhere get what they want, what's the problem?

some people want to have compass arrow markers AND not have them at the same time :teehee:

As someone already stated, we just have to hope that the directions are clear enough to figure out without needing that stupid pointer (as in, the game should not be reliant on it at all to help you finish quests).

i dont think its the directional aspect of the compass that bugs people i think its mostly the fact that the compass shows ruins and locations long before you can even see them. between the two issues having quest arrows toggleable is far more important to me at least.

To the complainers: Do you realize that turning on/off the quest markers is OPTIONAL? I don't know why there's so much drama there...

I like that the compass shows me direction, and don't mind having it for that, but I wish it didn't show important locations and enemies around me. It takes the surprise out of combat, and when I'm traveling I can't stumble on cool things on my own, which I like doing.

Quest markers fine, you could turn them off in OB by activating 'A Venerable Vintage'. I don't see what being told that there's a fort on the other side of the hill when I can't see it has to do with 'getting what I want' though.

Absolutely not, and stop putting words in my mouth. I said nothing of the sort. I said the game is now less toddler friendly, IE, handholding. You're being a little too hyper-sensitive for your age.

And you're making things very personal, not just here, but everywhere. Trigger-happy.

I'd mind your manners if I were you. There's no reason to start a scene everywhere. We are a peaceful community.

You mean you can't turn those off either? Hell I'm all for a standard compass that doesn't show anything besides the direction you're going. MODS!

It might break immersion, but still, you'd usually see a giant ruin laid out before you before you get to the marker, anyways. xD

personally I wish for the option to keep quest markers but turn off the compass

my issue in morrowind was that the game gave you really crap directions sometimes but at the same time I never liked the compass showing you where to go in your face.

personally I like having an idea on where to go on the map and then from there explore going off the beaten path while making my way to what is marked on my map...at least thats how I would prefer things

Har har. What you might not see is the slightly obscured cave entrance, which would be fun to discover naturally.
