Pete Hines Werewolf answer (gamescom)

No way they are in alpha, no way they are still deciding what to keep or not. C'mon, it's practically September. They have little time to bug hunt and print. Werewolves are out, possibly in DLC (may it burn in everlasting fire.

They've been saying that they want to do werewolves but may only be able to include them via DLC.

As soon as I get the game, I will read the Guide and check the Player stats for any hints on werewolves. Then I will make a topic saying "WEREWOLVES CONFIRMEZ". And brag about how the people who were skeptical was wrong. But that's just me. Wishful thinking at best :P

I can say it's about a 99% no. The game would be virtually unplayable if your character became a Lich, then add the fact that there's no cure...

How would that make the game unplayable?

Liches are better than vampires and werewolves because of their abilities and because of how well they can blend into society, and you wouldn't ever need a cure because there really is no downside.

I'm talking about before the game releases. Once Skyrim is out i'm never visiting this board again lol. Good luck though!

Yeah, I've been pretty convinced of it since the fan interview. I think it's great. The whole point of TES games is exploration, the thrill of finding things on your own.

I agree.

Cyrodilic vampires can blend in. But the rest are cursed to be ugly. And Liches can blend into society? Since when? Mannimarco excluded.

REAL liches, mainly the powerful ones, can either stop their body from rotting but will still look somewhat corpse like or they can use illusion spells to look another way and hide their desecrated flesh.

They are also far more powerful than werewolves and the most ancient of vampires. Funny thing is, is that the original vampires were necromancers who changed their souls and messed with their essence to become vampires, which is somewhat like how you become a lich, but it's much more complicated.

I think they'll probably make it into the game, but to be honest I don't care if they don't. Vampires and werewolves seem to be everywhere at the moment. I'm sick to death of them.

I am getting sick and tired of seeing them butchered by teenage perversion. Namely, vampire diaries and Twilight. Kudos to Bethesda if they give us "real" werewolves and "real" vampires.

Agreed. As with most things, the original story is far more interesting than anything Hollywood can dream up.

Where are you getting this information? Some other fantasy world? The original vampires were the creation of Lamae Beolfag, a Nede woman who was violated by Molag Bal, died, then rose from the dead. I need a source on this idea that the "original vampries" were necromancers.

Liches don't blend in well with society. Maybe a master of Illusion could trick the stupid, but any competent being would see through it and so you'd hardly be safe anywhere. Even Jagar Tharn's Illusions didn't fool everyone, and he was the greatest Illusionist to date.

Plus, as I said before, there is no cure for Lichdom. Your character would have to die to become a Lich, and there's no cure for death. If a player became a Lich and decided he/she did not like it, then that's just too bad, as they're now stuck with a Lich forever.

I actually used to like vampires, but the media killed them along with my interest. Never cared for werewolves, EVER! I just think they're lame.

Then I found liches...

using the whole "we're focusing on the main game" answer for a huge sandbox RPG that has a ton of 'main game' play styles depending on the players opinion is kinda lame
i just with he'd say yes or no
thats all im looking for
no details, screens, nothing but definite conformation so i can either quit hoping or just move on from wishing to be a freaking werewolf

Oh, I was talking about another universe for the vampires, forgot about the TES origins.

Anyway, if you've ever read books in Oblivion or studied liches you'd know that liches can disguise themselves, and let's not forget that liches are the strongest of magic-users and can probably fool most civilians.

If you decided you didn't want to be a lich later on, that's your fault for not thinking it all the way through.

They will add vamps and werewolves alright, to tap into the lucrative "Tween" girl market.

My face is almost smashed because I palm it so much. Werewolves and vampires have been around for ages, centuries before Stephanie Meyer and her perversion of folklore. Daggerfall had werewolves in 1997, then Bloodmoon in 2003. Twilight came out in 2008. So clearly we had them way before. And fans demanded them way before Twilight came out.

I take that as 'no'.
And so should you. Every time they say "we're not talking about that" or "we're not sure" it always turned out as a no.

I'm not saying otherwise... I'm just pointing out that it would make good business sense for them to be included as well considering their current popularity in media...
