I agree with you op thats the impression i get as well.It causes more trouble than it is worth to denie something that wont be in why put up with the constant questions if you know they arent in i dont think they fear this game not selling its gonna sell with or without were beast or vampires. The only way they dont make it in is if they just dont get them right in time.

I'd be somewhat surprised if werewolves weren't in the game. Imo they are appropriate to have in the province of Skyrim. When I think of werewolves I think of them running through high altitude forest and Skyrim certainly has that. Again, just my conception.

I take that as 'no'.
And so should you. Every time they say "we're not talking about that" or "we're not sure" it always turned out as a no.

Example?

I think theres a bunch of stuff they dont want to talk about so we can actaully be surprised playing the game instead of knowing everything :D im sure i saw and heard Pete hines saying this himself so :celebration:

This.

and i approve of this, it is highly important that we don't know thiings we would really like to find out for ourselves, lycanthropy and vampirisim are 2 of these things, i mean think about it would u really prefer knowing ints in the game over randomly encountering "ah werewolf! fuuu!!!"

I think they won't talk about what's not finalized; and anything they feel should not be known by competitors prior to shipping the game.

There are a lot of ways to interpret a non-answer, but considering the things that've been confirmed with a simple yes or a no, it's pretty hard to see "we're not talking about that" as a flat out "no". Just too bad the interviewer had to ask about vampires and werewolves in one question, because I think it can be reasonably inferred that vampires are in...Morrowind had them, Oblivion had them, Skyrim will probably have them. Werewolves alone would've been the more interesting thing to consider, but since Pete could answer with the blanket statement for both of them, it could just as well mean there are vampires but no werewolves (or vice versa, but I doubt it)

edit: btw with what little time is left to putting this game on the shelf, I seriously doubt that a major gameplay element like vampirism or lycanthropy would still be in the air. Whatever they've got, I'm sure it's finalized, they're just keeping a tight lid on it for whatever reason

I think there's a good chance that they're in, and an equally good chance that they're out.

Well we know one thing. They're not considered part of the main game.

Whil they could be introduced through DLC as originally I find it redundant. Don't go taking great lengths out of nothing. When it's confirmed it's confirmed. Til then the answer will come on 11.10.11 or 11.12.11 at the latest

That was my idea, ever since the fan interview.

... or it will be a DLC :P

So my guess they are definitely in and we will be presently surprised to see them in there. I think we will see one of the two near Solitude.

Or they're not in and his goal is to not turn away fans who really want them. Or perhaps they're being planned for future DLC.

Try to look at things from different angles.

I have no doubt that vampires will be in. Has there ever been a TES game without them? They don't shapeshift or require any different meshes or models or inventory complications, so there is really no reason not to include them. Vampire lairs make for great dungeon fodder.

Werewolves ... meh. They didn't include them in Oblivion for some reason or another, and as far as I know those reasons may still apply.

you have a point they are working with the same engine......though they call it new....though i still hope for werewolves....though the deathclaw frame from fallout kinda fits a werewolfs form.....sooo....it might not be as hard to include as one would think

I too have no doubt Vampires (and the ability to become one) are in. It's practically always been there, so there's no reason it would be absent.

Werewolves on the other hand, I'm still hoping. The fact that they like to dodge the question does give me the impression that they want to keep it under wraps, but I still have that lingering doubt in the back of my head.

this answer means:'' we know so much that people want warewolf realy bad that were going to make them as DLCs only. after all were not [censored], we dumb down games to appeal to more people and we make dlcs to increase profits''

I pretty much interpret that as a no. If they had any brains included in their marketing strategies they'd say that there are werewolves and vampires and make the hype ten times bigger. Even though their marketing is really stupid at times I just cant find a reason why they wouldnt tell that already. Its only a bit more than two months from release.

Eh, can't say I care about werewolves and vampires. I wanna know if I can be a lich.

That would be the extreme version of vampire. You would likely be attacked on sight by eveyone.

I want to be a Necromancer. Not just the 'summon skeletons out of thin air' kind, but actually have a lair where I can bring back body parts and ingredients to create a PERMANANT companion for myself. Have like 6 Skeleton minions following me around at once. Have a small army of skeleton and zombie guards at my lair. Supplying better equipment for my skeletons.

I want the same option with Conjuration as well. Where you can bind Daedra into mundus for the long-term.

Then be the Vampire necromancer warlord bad guy. pretty sweet.

If neither werewolves nor vampires were in the game, I think they'd say so. They're obviously teasing and want it to be a surprise.

It honestly amazes me that people still keep asking the question. Although saying that, some people were surprised to see the Dark Brotherhood confirmed after similar teasing...

or they keep their mouth shut and let everyone buy it... even the people who will be pissed there arent werewolves or vampires...

but srsly i think there will be both at some point... there is too much demand not to include them in some way...

however the quote indicates to me that the probability of them showing up in dlc is much greater than them showing up in the main game

Like I was saying earlier, liches can disguise themselves in normal society. Therefore, NONE SHALL TOUCH ME!!

Unless, of course, I show my true form, then may the world bow to my thunder!

Todd said that they were playing around with this kind of stuff back in February, in GameInformers Skyrim podcast.

He didn't want to confirm whether or not they would make the final cut, but I expect they will, I mean... It's Skyrim.

i think people are going to be disappointed if they fool themselves into thinking pete confirmed werewolves...

you're just building up false hype by twisting words around, i think... just accept the game for what it is, and if we find werewolves, great, but dont jump in expecting to find them, because you'll only ruin your fun.

Meh, no werewolves=no sale. I'll just wait for Mass Effect 3 or buy the PC version after a werewolf mod is out.
