Because for now, as far as i know, the only way to do it is tinkering with the game console, which is kinda inconvenient and cheat-related.

Even if you find out how exactly you should do it, it is buggy and your wife / husband will occasionally change their clothes back.

I'm currently married to Senna and very disappointed with my wife wearing her unsightly robes while having such an amazing look (the very best IMO : ) ).

You know I kind of wish people would stop throwing "lol stop getting your sims in my RPG!' in these kind of threads.

It seem somewhat childish and kind of not in the spirit of RPGs (not good ones at least that want their players to invest in the RP part of it) - especially for things that are optional and you don't need to do. Unless just having an option frightens you.

That said I don't want to dress my wife/husband. They are an NPC who should have their own personalty and a style to go with that. They should dress themselves according to that personality. If I could marry a frumpy fish wife/husband in game I would expect them to dress like a frumpy fish wife/husband, or a frumpy fish wife/husband whose station in the world has suddenly changed - they don't have to get round in their work clothes, but they probably shouldn't be looking to comfortable in a tuxedo (unless they are one of those diamonds in the rough types). If I could marry a kick ass warrior I would expect them to probably dress practically at least (think Game of Thrones warrior relaxing). Etc

I'm not complaining but giving my feedback and petition is one of the way of doing it. If it's really against the rules (so I should read it more carefully) then which kind of feedback can I give except of bug reports?

a better petition would be for a way to change your facial features after you started the game, even a haircut or different facial hair.

Well I'm halfway agreed with you about childish nature of the subject and NPC's own personality. But for me it is also a question if you playing a game with the "spirit of RPG" should you always wear your weapon and armor to be that hero or may be you can wish sometimes to take some rest, put on citizen clothes, get to the chair with some ale and chicken with your wife being around and looking as you want her to be. There the subject comes.

Save the spirit of RPG trash for RPG's that involve dice, pencil and a piece of paper. Since its not in the game and its to late to add such useless things as said before go play the sims or deal with it.


On a side note maybe stealing their clothes and replacing them may work.

Would be nice as well. I can't see your or my suggestion are against the "the spirit of RPG's" in any way.

I think it would be weird to tell your spouse what to wear and dress them like they're a child, but maybe it would be nice if they might maybe take out some clothes you've put in a wardrobe and put them on if it fits their personality/preference. Of course if they don't like the clothes they wouldn't choose them, and this might call for more depth of personality than is currently available.

Useless for ones can be useful for others.

The game isn't about getting married. Go play fable fruitcup. That stupid crap exists in the game and it's totally empty content as far as I'm concerned better to devote time and resources to game aspects that matter.

Why not care about it? Everything consists of details. I've just suggested that thing, that's why i made it petition: if nobody cares then nobody signs it and Bethesda won't do it, right?

"Empty content" that'd take 10 minutes to compose in code wouldn't give much to other areas of the game if the time was reassigned to them. Let the guy dream.

I think the marriage aspect needs to be fleshed out in a lot of ways including this one. It is obvious it's just something they tacked on with no real thought or effort involved so much could be done to improve it.

My personal opinion is that "that stupid crap" is actually an attempt to evolve the game, while you just taking it hostile. I agreed that The Elder Scrolls is not about getting married and there are a lot more core game issues to deal with. But still it has a place in the game and it has a right to be taken into consideration.

I don't know. I've not thought about marriage in game. But, if I were Bethesda I'd probably sell sixy undies DLC just to take advantage of the desire some have for it... lol. Just imagine how much they could make from "talk dirty to me" dialogue add ons. I guess it's all just symptomatic of the change in what people want from a game like Skyrim in modern times. Loot, Laceration, and levels just no longer cut it. Err.. was that an unpardoned pun?
