Petition to add duels and Arena System in ESO.

Post » Tue Feb 11, 2014 5:51 pm

Hello Community, I am starting a petition for Zenimax to add duels into ESO before it is officially released, now you are probably wondering why does that matter?

Well Duels bring nothing negative, just positive from the entire feature and since ESO end game is basically Cyrodil "which is pvp" Duels are wonderful way to get practice with friends and to be competitive.

I mean ESO doesn't have any raids atm so it really should be trying to grab onto every Pvp feature it can get it hands on atm.

Also the reason I think they should try and push arenas for live or maybe a later patch is that atm, their are 2 games that have a decent arena system, which is Swtor and WoW, by adding arenas you will be in that small croud that a lot of MMO's don't tend to grab in and Arenas are a really strong positive and add competitive play to the community.

So i am just asking for you guys as the community to /sign if you agree with my opinion I really think allowing duels before live, and maybe getting arenas on a later patch will help ESO so much

Duels seem too WOW for my taste, but to each his own.

Duelling was in MMOs before WoW. Objecting to a feature idea because it was used in a prior MMO does not seem to be the result of carefully considered rational thought processes.

I like to duel from time to time, it is a harmless option.

It is not about being similar to wow, just a lot of MMO's miss out on duels and duels are a really positive and simple feature that I don't think ESO should pass up, as said I mean the few MMO's that do have Duels are WoW and Swtor, I think a game that doesn't have something as huge as raiding should try to grab more features of the pvp side then.

Also if I can add, it is just really fun to duel your freinds and i can assure you when people come from other games there is always that wonder

" ohh dude can you duel in this game"

"nope"

"Ahh that is lame so we will never be able to fight each other unless we make opposite faction toons and meet each other"

^ Why does that scenario need to happen, I mean dueling was implemented into wow I am sure it is a pretty dated feature to add to the game.

Why do you wish to keep arenas out of ESO, Arenas are pretty prelevant in the elder scrolls universe plus since not many MMO's actually have a good Arena system like Swtor and WoW it would be a huge plus to the game

I mean atm we have Cyrodil, which is zerg Pvp and it sounds fun, but nothing is wrong with nice close a personal small group combat, which is a feature I don't think Eso should pass on.

Why do you object to an optional feature that you obviously have no interest in? That would fall into the "dog in a manger" behaviour category. I don't like crafting, I have read a lot of fantasy books and I don't recall Conan making boots or Alaric Anthony Morgan harvesting lumber, but I am not asking the developers to take it out.

i am fine with duels but adding an arena would take people out of cyrodiil which is the focus of the pvp in this game. i almost advocate for options but when those options step on a major part of the game i have to object

Well MMO's are all about the end game, and how much there is to do at the end game, and the more things there are to do, the better. In my opinion.

A petition should be a poll.

Yes to dueling, 1v1, group v group, guild v guild - settings to auto-deny guild invites

Yes to Arena AS LONG AS it does not become a silly e-sport a la WoW. It must be like Oblivion's arena and players must be able to fight NPCs, monsters and even bet on fights and watch them in real time.

true, more options keeps more players playing longer = more money = better game for all. ok i can get behind it then if done right and it does not take away from the current pvp system

Yeah, well, I prefer my pvp to be short matches with small teams (6-10) going for specific objectives, like WoW battlegrounds or Star Wars warzones, so the needs of Cyrodill are not high on my list of priorities.

Maybe because of the negative impact it has on the social side of the game?

My experience with players who want to duel players of the same faction in MMOs has been that they are uniformly immature d-bags that hate structured PvP because it is balanced, because they don't want fair or balanced fights, they want to make themselves feel big by exploiting unfair advantages against opponents, whether that comes in the form of a class, level, or gear imbalance... they don't like being turned down either, usually resorting to verbal taunts and repeatedly challenging uninterested players to duels and other anti-social behaviour.

I can understand this mindset, but as stated above it also puts a barrier on some friendly competition, I mean if I want to battle my friend in combat with my class "the way I want to play" vs the way he designed his class we will have to create toons on different factions and try to meet each other up just to have a duel... Why should such a hassle be forced on such a simple system that has been implemented in MMO's way older then ESO, the system for dueling is obviously not extremely complicated since it was a feature on many early MMo's.
