As a software developer, I like to experiment with settings, especially when the software in question is something I am unfamiliar with (a "black box", in engineering terms). Not only is it a part of my job description to mess with things to find bugs and squeeze the most performance and quality out of an application, but it is an entertaining exercise. When I am presented with a console that is effectively "dumbed-down" to prevent people from breaking things or finding things, I eventually lose interest in the software in question and move on.
I realize that this is an attempt to prevent users from breaking their systems, but a disclaimer and warranty-revocation statement may be sufficient to reduce the load on your support staff, although some users (as I have seen) cannot read even gigantic red text, so there will still be SOME level of users asking for help.
tl;dr signed.
