Petition For Vehicles and/or Increased Player Count!

Post » Fri Mar 13, 2009 2:01 am

Crytek UK has said that their will not be vehicles and the multiplayer will only be 6on6, which makes many of us old timers sad at the gameplay change.

Vehicles have always been an integral part of the Crysis multiplayer. The wide variety of cars, tanks, aviation, and water vehicles was absolutely stunning and made for a great battlefield, giving an atmosphere of total war. Crysis 2 will lack all of these things that made Crysis a great game. Having no vehicle support (or controlled by stupid AI bots), makes for a less tactical gameplay experience. The two Crysis Wars maps Savanna and Battleground were absolutely loved by the community, many of us could simply not get enough of the vehicle warfare, it became embedded and intertwined with the Crysis franchise at that point, kind of like vehicles are related with the Battlefield series. Not having vehicles in Crysis 2 has angered much of the previous community, to the point where some of the vehicle lovers have decided to skip out on the sequel. Now, I dont think we can really ask for much since the development is pretty much finished, but some cars and maybe a tank or player controlled small helicopter on some of the larger maps would be great.

Crytek has also announced that the multiplayer will only have a 6on6 playercount. Me and many others find this number to be rediculously small - the original Crysis had 16on16 gameplay! This decision to reduce the playcount dramatically has also resulted in many people deciding not to preorder Crysis 2. It is obviously too late to ask for 16on16 gameplay again and I realize the difficulty of doing that in New York City and the console hardware holding the number down, but increasing the number to 8on8 would make for a more gameplay experience, and it could easily be done for the PC community.

Collectively, these two decisions by Crytek to move towards a Modern Warfare 2 style game have seriously maimed the Crysis franchise into something it is not, and has disappointed many fans. Its definitely late in the development cycle, but giving the community a tank or two in the larger maps and 8on8 gameplay would really make the community happy.

Anyway, show your support here!

double signed

cutting on both those things is like cutting on half of the gameplay experience
maybe bring this features in a future dlc

Hell yes - This is a huge part of what indeed made Crysis the fantastic multiplayer experience it was ...and size too. Its seems more and more like MP in Crysis 2 is trying to emulate COD. If we wanted this we would of bought COD. If its true there are going to be no Vehicles in MP then me, my clan , friends and Crysis MP loving players wont be buying this I'm afraid Crytek - Love ya engine tho

It's not going to change. This is Crytek UK's decision and they are sticking to it.

Considering you have not played the final product, I do not think any of us are at liberty to say it will be a bad game mechanic.

It is not like the whole studio is full of idiots. They know about larger player counts, vehicles, etc. However, with their own internal testing, for the type or product they are trying to sell (Tactics and Teamwork) 6v6 is where they hit their sweet spot. I don't really think the game needs more players, has long as it works and it is a fun experience.

Has for vehicles, anytime you add them into a multiplayer game you have a problem balancing them. The Battlefield series has used that has their trademark, but they still have issues when you inject them into the formula.

In Crysis Wars, has soon as you get a VTOL, you couldn't take whoever was in it down. They basically became the Lord of the Skies, and you can only take them down with another VTOL.

I'm just saying, these are their decisions, and have some faith. The game isn't finished yet, and Crytek know what they are doing. The Video Game Industry needs to get out of the rut it is in, and if Crytek has to make different decisions in multiplayer, so be it.

I played a few C1 servers that were 64 on 64. Was amazing, if C2 is 6v6 with no way to mod it for more I won't buy it...
I care less about vehichles, they had a way of being unbalanced with how someone got hold of one and went on a spawncamp spree... (lul kinda like the blackops spawn system)

All in all, SIGNED!

It won't be changed.
Its all about "hey did you see the success of cod, I want to sell my game as many times as cod" (simply moneymaker).
If I want to play an ordinary low pretension multiplayer shooter, then I switch to COD4.
Let's see if they can sell enough license to pass their development investments.
I bet not (sry guys but 6on6?Are you kidding?).
Also I can't understand why somebody want to develop a shooter for console.
You know, a game where precision is very important (precision with a controller?).

Signed too (even if it's hopeless).
Perhaps there exist a modder which has too much time ;-) (but i think that's also hopeless).

No, you did not. 25v25 is unplayable due to lag (on a dual quad core dedicated server machine), 64v64 would crash in moments.

@Talon
Doesn't bother me, not buying it.

For me, the Crysis 1 Multiplayer wasn't really interesting. It svcked that those, who got the vehicles first, are mostly those, who had the first place in scores. I always tried to get in a VTOL, but it was taken by another one all the time. Vehicles may add a tactical note to the Multiplayer, but in Crysis, they were overpowered. I never really played many games because the vehicles frustrated me. In Bad Company 2 though, I couldn't think of playing this game without vehicles. Not that I use them, but they are easy targets and the class system allows me to take them out really quick. You can't do that fast in Crysis. And for the 6vs6. It's faster to fight with a 6 man team against other teams, then fighting with 23 another players against 24 other players. If you would have played the closed test, you would know that even 4vs4 are enough on Rooftops (because of the lack of players, there wasn't always a full game).

If you really want them so bad, maybe you can create a mod containing vehicles and more players. I think it's fine right now and it isnt a "Vehicle Crysis" because of that, the nanosuit was useless in Crysis Multiplayer and I think that's what they want to change. And they did good job in my opinion.
