Pets in TES V?

So your pro slavery then???? Do you live in a state that's directly below missouri?

In Morrowind Argonians and Khajiits were slaves. He was making a joke.

I wouldn't mind if pets were an option in TES V, but I couldn't vote because none of the options reflect how I would want something like this incorporated into the game.

It would be nice if you had pets while, but the pets should be dependent on your fame \ infamy (High infamy and you can have Undead\Deadric creatures as pets)

I want companions that can be beasts, I don't particularly like the idea of having to take care of them, that would just get annoying, like if my character had to go to the toilet and eat in the game, that would just become annoying as well, it might be realistic, but I think that it go over the top.

I'd be all for having pets in TES V, just as long as they aren't constantly running around barking like that dog in Fable 2.

Pets would be great if they worked like below

New Skill - Beast Mastery!

Skill Information - This skill allows you to train beasts to do as you command, this skill is put under the personality attribute.

Pets...

They should be normal companions. And if they should die, just use your Beast Mastery skill to try to tame it (100 skill would equal 100% chance with all lesser beasts (wolves, rats, etc.), and about 25% with greater beasts (bears, etc.) and if you fail, you cannot try to tame that type of beast for at least 24 hours. The pets should fight for you and thats it, no fetch, no digging up treasure, just fight.

I'd like to see companions in TESV. Pets would be one type of companion. Companions with specific skills would also pave the way for characters with more distinct strengths and weaknesses. Potential companions would also form a small group of NPCs with whom the PC could potentially develop a deeper relationship, not necessarily romances but ongoing conversations and shared experiences:

"You're the hero of Kvatch!"

"Thanks, but and I closed the gate together. He deserves as much credit as I do."

grins appreciatively.

Having a dog in Fable2 was awesome, so why not have a dog in TES? I think it would work.
There should be several types of pets and they should be customizeable. I voted they should be hard to get because it would svck if everyone had one right away.
They should be optional, too because it would svck if you were stuck with a pet that you didn't even want.

If there are pets but no packrats in TES V, that'd be worse than any betrayal I've ever heard of.

I have to disagree with that totally on principle; I do not want any non-killable entities in TES:V. Having a "It's just knocked unconscious" implementation for anything in the world just removes all the consequences attached to trying to keep it alive. It's an RPG, which is about consequences.

Not that you could tell from OB's plot....but yes an RPG needs to focus on the bigger picture

Yeh i see now. But what if there was an alternative. Like if you didnt want to the pet there was a rare item you could have, or a new ability?

Bah people already beat me to it, but yes waste of even more resources.
Im in favor of having a dog/wolf as a simple companion like the mage or whatever chances are
I'd just keep it at home though, probably interfere with mah stealthing

No thanks.

Just something else that will ruin a sneak/run up to something way more powerful and get its ass handed to it...

and leave me screaming at a screen because I want the pet, but my last save is ~1:30 hours of game play away.

Well if the AI is THAT stupid...

The first thing they need to do is make a AI that can do MORE than run a streight line and NOT just for pets but for ALL NPCs and creatures.

Pets as in animal companions? Maybe, if only lore-friendly and with certain classes/skills.

Pets as in something you get to feed and groom? Get out.

Heh, as true as that may be.. The AI I've experienced in beth games (specifically FO3) my little doggy likes to run up to behemoths and get whacked to death in seconds.

I guess i could deal with a pet if it was smart.. But its not like that's easy to do, so I stand by my 'no.'

I think they should combine fallouts dogmeat with morrowinds pack rat to make a more useful NPC who can not only fight for you but carry your stuff as well. Also you should be able to earn it through a quest like in oblivion.

Or they could bring back Beast Tongue (Command Creature), but implement it in a slightly different way.

Oh please no! I mean, I understand that TES was built from D&D blocks, but if this is fun for you, why don't you go play with a spreadsheet editor or something? There was a reason, why Bethesda abandoned exp based skill system and part of it is definitely the amount of calculation that takes place in games that have it. Stuff like that breaks immersion. Besides, what you described is, by far, not a normal companion, rather a summon and we already have those...
