Pheasants Arise!

Post » Fri May 31, 2013 10:48 am

It was just a recent realization of mine that there are really no living Pheasants found in Skyrim, what I mean by "Skyrim" is the current timeline of the game itself plus all the DLCs. I've known somehow subliminally about their non-existence nature (except for their somewhat "fresh" corpses found here and there) in the current timeline of the game, I guess I just expected to find some of maybe on Solstheim (on 90% content completion of Dragonborn to no luck at all) or some evidence of them being imported.

So I guess that got me wondering, what happened to the Pheasants of Skyrim?

Were they all hunted and killed by the hunters of Skyrim? Thus being almost extinct?

I found there is also little lore on them:

Strange that they may only be found in Skyrim, when I thought of a possibility of them being imported..

Probably just a Dev oversight.

I don't know, I hunt quite a bit and have never seen them. That's ok though, I waste enough arrows shooting at rabbits and those little birds would be really hard to hit.

I really wish they had some wild pigs in skyrim; it's a shame my nord will never taste any bacon

It's the same as Fallout 3 not having any iguanas or squirrels despite them found as food.

Or Oblivion not having any cows, despite the fact that we are constantly informed that we move like a pregnant one. :)

Pheasants are sly, crafty and noted for their elusive, often unpredictable behavior patterns that can frustrate both experienced hunters and seasoned bird dogs. The pheasant knows how to use cover and terrain to their best advantage in order to thwart the efforts of pursuers,

Pheasant behavior can drive a hunter crazy, so why not turn the tables and drive the pheasant crazy? This can be accomplished by combining the slow walking technique with an easy "stop and go" procedure. Whether in an open field or dense cover, pheasants get nervous when slow moving hunters and dogs pause briefly at intervals while covering the area. Many times this technique will unnerve a bird and cause it to flush, when it would have held tight under other circumstances.

In fact you can get boar meat from those things, just role play that you made it into bacon.
