After attaining 100 conjuring, I went to find Phinis to level up my spell list for conjuration. He's nowhere to be found. He's not in his room (waited at 1 hr intervals for over 3 days; waited at 24 hour intervals at 230 am when he's listed as sleeping for a week; also restarted system several times); not in the arcaneum (waited at 1 hr intervals throughout the day for 2 days); not at the frozen hearth (winterhold inn); not in the midden. I think a dragon killed him, but I don't recall a corpse. Is there any way to fix this problem? Maybe it's a bug that needs to be fixed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry to hear this i cant help but im just posting so that others can see this. maybe he got killed im saying that kuz i killed a general goods guy in whiterun and it took me along time to figure it out. i was just turned into a warewolf and i culdnt control my rage damn hands swung left and right who knows who else i killed.

Phinis has a set routine at the college, if not in his room, he will either be in the college courtyard, the lecture hall, or hanging out with Urag in the Arcaneum (Library). I had this problem too for awhile, it's not that he's not there or around, he's just hard to find sometimes for some reason.

I understand his routine, he's just not there... anywhere. His set routine should at least include a trip to the bedroom no?

Maybe check around winterhold for a body e.g. off the cliffs (use become invincible shout to get down safely) as a dragon may have ragdoll physics his body off the side of the walkway.

As Ozone above said, it may be time to go on a corspe hunt if that is the case. He may have indeed been killed, and as Winterhold does not have a "Hall of the Dead", his body will be lying where he died, possibly off the bridge or over the college wall itself. Your only option is to load an earlier save if that is the case. Although it is curious, he should be flagged in the game as "essential" and therefore cannot die, at least until you have completed the Conjuration Ritual Spell quest, so he should still be alive if you have not done that quest.
