Phoenix!

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:00 pm

I am aware of TES lore, but I'm no expert.
My question is, is a Phoenix contradicted by TES lore in any way or is it possible to add them in? (in a somehow lore-friendly way)

I think that it is safe to say that it is not in there, but being added in is a different story? People don't like it when you change lore

Is there any part of the lore that says that Phoenixes don't exist? Because that's what really matters. Just because there's no lore that says phoenixes exist doesn't mean they don't.

I dont think there is any that says they do not.
I also dont think it directly contradicts lore, but a phoenix' lifespan is cyclical, and TES creation is a downward spiral.
Maybe a spirit that escaped dissolution into the earthbones by realising it could have a cyclical existence, instead of withering and dissolving?
Are you asking for fanfiction reasons?

Are there any Daedra that look similar to birds because as far as I know.... Daedra cover the whole death and rebirth thing, and they can choose their own appearence so it wouldn't be hard for a Daedra to take on the appearence of a firey bird... maybe?

Edit: Also; you called?

Isn't lore supposed to represent the knowledge of the people? Just because nobody has ever seen a phoenix should not mean that they do not exist.

I don't really mind it being in there. Doesn't seem to rock the boat to have the idea=D

They could easily be added with no problem. Nothing in the lore that contradicts it.

Merari, what are you talking about? TES is extremely cyclical. The whole premise of Alduin eating the world is a cyclical theme.

I dont want a Phoenix! but a Phoenix or two would be good, and the only way to kill them is by drowning or freezing
and watch where you throw around those, thats the difference between Fisto! and Fisto

They're mentioned in the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/introduction-1.

edit - actually, that's a Shakespeare quote and not something Elder Scrolls related. Oops.
