Photoblog of FNV's real-world locations

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2010 2:11 pm

Hi all - I'm just back from two weeks in Nevada and California, where I filled a few days photographing a few real-world locations that appear in FNV. As you'll see, some are very similar to real life ... some aren't ... and some riff on the real world in ways you don't realise until you get there! ("King's" indeed.)

I hope it'll provide you with a few laughs - I had fun doing it. So far 16 locations are up; I'll be adding another 15 or so plus plenty of video in the next few days. The blog's at:

Edit: I can't stress it enough, you're blog is great. Just read through the whole thing, its amazing how well the game was molded next to the real Mojave region.

I posted a bunch of similar updates and side-by-sides for Fallout 3 a few years ago, Point Lookout, Olney, DC, ect - its a little easier getting to DC than Mojave in my world, i'm glad somebody was able to get out and do it. Awesome blog

I did my best:

As you imply, it's a fictional location - couldn't even see a motel there, although the freeway made the spot hard to see.

This is easily one of the coolest posts I've read on any game forum...this should be a sticky.

I did notice it was a fictional location, just wanted to see if there was something that ressembled Novac around the area. Thanks for trying though, did think that Dino pic was really cool and ressembled Dinky alot. Keep up the good work :goodjob:

Where is Area 51? North, South, East or West?

It'd be in the NE, since it's part of the huge area encompassed by Nellis AFB. Remember the game map is stretched and squashed in various dimensions though :-)

Awesome game fansite & work. Fascinating stuff. Even tho I live in No. Calif, I haven't seen/been to very many of those places and it's a very long drive. Thanks for saving me the trips! ;) :tops:

Awesome, dude. Keep it up. Hope you meet some great folks on your trip (and people who both understand and appreciate what you're doing...ie, fellow gamers).

This is fantastic. Absolutely made my day.

I wonder if there's enough market out there for Fallout-themed giuded tours...
