What's so impossible about making this toggleable on consoles?

i doubt we'll ever see capes and the like in a TES game ever again... the only times they appeared were in the old games, and only oblivion actually had hoods we could add to our robes...

unfortunately, i dont think the engines bethesda use deal with those kinda physics too well... atleast thats what im assuming.

it would be nice if they managed to do physics for hair and added capes, hooded capes/cloaks, and stuff, and added physics to them...

that would probably make me play in third person alot more often.

If they're not physiqued, I hope they'll at least be animated.

It isn't like it'll take a rocket scientist to do it, especially if the developers have upgraded their technology.

I'm actually a rocket scientist.... :(

Assassin's Creed has cloth physics. Hair physics works essentially the same way. Thing is, the cloth physics in AC is limited to the player's character only, probably because it'd be prohibitively expensive to do it on every character.
Also, there was that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrtwESnTOwY made.

YEah, god Forbid you have cool cloth physics on thigns like Cloaks and tabbards. I mean we don't even need stinkin 3d! Take that out and make it all 2d, it's not necessary.

Take your medicine, please.

I don't mind if there is cloth or hair physics, there is just much more important things.

If they are still using the Havok physics engine there is no reason they couldn't implement Havok Cloth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7-wn5TDVb8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DlPJpT5OQM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daZoXzBGea0 It's been around for a couple years, I wouldn't be surprised if they use it. And one from GDC 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF5z-1OUlJM&feature=related

If optimized correctly, it may make an appearance. Like any good developer, I'm sure Beth keeps their priorities straight. They most likely have this massive wish list of things they would like to see, just like we post our own wishlists of features here, but if Havok hair compromises another aspect, expect it to be axed as a non essential feature, much like soft shadows on everything got axed in Oblivion.

Well, if they did decide to have clothing/hair with physics it's a decision that would have to be made relatively early in development, certainly before now. Think of all the models that would have to be remade if they chose to cut it or implement it late in development. If we're going to see it at all it's probably already in.

Not entirely nessisary, but it would be pretty damn cool... Besides, I always wanted to see the return of cloaks without the use of mods.

Sure, I wouldn't miss it, but it'd be nice to have.

Their better be cloaks. Brown, green, red, and of course black.

I voted for "maybe" because I want to see it, but I don't think we will. I really, know next to nothing about how these things work, but wouldn't doing that for the player, and all the NPC's take up an awful lot of space? I'd rather they spent that on something else, instead.

Now, if I'm wrong, and it's really not as big of a deal as I think, then yes, please :3 It would be awesome.

I'd love to have physics affected hair and clothes, but to be honest, I'd settle for hair and clothes that had at least enough flexibility to not clip through other objects (armor, other clothes, the character's body, etc). Oh, and rigid armor models. Seeing plate armor twist and stretch with the player's movements is not something I would expect of a game that is supposed to look like we're playing on a completely new console (or, in my case, a brand new PC).

takes toomuch CPU usage. not even as option. if people are gonna complain about how much time it takes to include multiplayer and that it removes content adding physics to hairs or clothings will do much more on top of being CPU hungry

Realistically lets say they just use Havok Cloth for cape/cloaks and skirts/dresses (they can stick to jiggle bones for hair), the chances of seeing more than, oh, ten of them on screen at a time are pretty slim unless EVERY character has a cloak, and even then, how many people did you see on-screen at once in Oblivion? It doesn't come with a particularly large performance hit either, from what I've read, so I can't really see that aspect being an issue. The real problem would come with teaching modelers how to do it. I'm not sure exactly how Havok Cloth works, but it may be as simple as selecting a mesh and ticking a particular box when it is compiled, so potentially not a problem at all.

I don't really care about hair that much, or even most clothing. However, if you're wearing a cape or cloak (which I really hope is in this game) that should billow behind you as you run.
