I was wonderin if it is you have the capability to pick up the classes/weapons/capabilities of downed enemies or friends or if all you can do is change ur class at the bases/terminals.

changing at the terminals and when killed isn't enough?

operatives can swap clothes with a downed(or was it killed?) enemy and go undercover, but swapping class+weapon+abilities isn't possible i think. swapping weapons is likely to be in, but that would lower the use of the soldier's ability to hand out ammo.

In W:ET they had an ability to switch class with a downed ally, so they may have implemented it here as well.
However, I don't think they did, simply because there are terminals, making it easier to switch classes, resulting in smoother gameplay and decisionmaking.

When killed? Afaik you can change your class only at terminals. However, if you die, you will spawn nearby the next one.

hmm, i remember hearing you can change class when killed.. i could be wrong obviously, but still.
and you spawn at a spawn point, there's a CP near every spawnpoint, that's true, but there isn't a spawnpoint near every CP

I recall this being the correct explanation.

And what about character switching? Only between rounds?

Eh, I find it pretty dumb to enable that. A lot of people like to just farm one person and take their stuff or go around looking for weapons instead of helping their team.

Yes. Body types and character switching is between matches, if I remember correctly

Enable what? Picking up weapons from the ground? I don't think it's dumb, as long as you can only take weapons suitable for your body class.

Or if you pick up a too heavy weapon, you can't move 'till you drop it, call it a sort of 'over-encumberd' :)

i think you should be able to pick weapons off the ground. But your skill for that weapon is lower unless its the same one. Loss of accuracy, speed, reload time so on.

Enable ability to pick up class and weapons. Would just create weapon farming and if what somebody said is true, one of the class's ability to restock your ammo useless.

Just to get this straight most likely a player cannot take the class of a fallen player right? If a player happens to run over ammo will it be picked automatically and be usable, cause wouldn't that hurt the soldier class since he supplies his team with ammo.

in my opinion, it's as good as certain that you can't pick up a class, nor abilities.
and also in my opinion, it's (highly) unlikely you'll be able to pick up ammo from dead players.

I think you're right, except that you can pick up other weapons, fitting your class.
These picked up weapons will only have the ammo that was actually in the loader (afaik)
And if you run over the same weapon you're carrying, you get the ammo.

it's so easy to take a quick trip to a CP to get a new gun and ammo, or just find a soldier and ask ammo, so i can't see the use for picking up guns other than farming good guns. wich would mean some players are busy with things that aren't helping

Same thing I was thinking. A better way of getting ammo should be by soldier and if you can't find a soldier then a player should head back to a CP. I't really isn't fair to the Soldier who supplies his team with ammo. Then again the ammo picked up will most likely be minimal.

Which takes time and slows down the gamepace.
As I said before: If you pick up a gun, you only have the ammo in the loader. So if you have an ammo capacity of 30, but 6 bullets are already fired, you'll have 24 bullets. Now think about it: If you pick up weapons with this system (Which I think will be in place) you'll have to get ammo anyways.

Well, the soldier will be able to hand out ammo no matter what, considering that the soldier is able to hand out special ammo, such as armor piercing.

I have always enjoyed the ability to pick up weapons in games, usually just for variety.
