has anyone seen the new elder-scrolls vid. search elder scrolls 5 on youtube and click on the blue ogre looking thing its pretty insane.!!!!!! :gun: :sb: die

That's a fake TES video, as it belongs to a non-rpg game called "Project Offset", never the less I want to play that when it comes out, as it implements some of the "I want ..." suggestions in my last image post, like Huge monsters, and removing the difference between characters and monsters and the like. :shifty:

The images in this thread is gorgeous. Although most of them are not realtime graphics.

For example this:
http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2761.jpg

is not even 3d. It is matte painting.

Although I think everything can be done. Minus some polygons and add some jaggies.

I know, the current available gig can not output exactly like most of my posted images, but something similar with less detail could be achieved, and those images are just for inspiration.

Moving images:

the Hunter (I took this video today. It is realtime. This is using Just Cause 2's engine. Runs very good on my Pentium. :P)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uPbSA2KPew&hd=1

Project offset(it is still in development but not under intel anymore. Blame intel for delay.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOPbyl7r8gk&hd=1

Crysis 2(coming Q4 2010)
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-crysis-2/101367

Metro 2033(it is OUT and imo best graphics available, a game that pays off for your graphics card. The most detailed(graphically) game I have ever seen in density.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ExnGXgKwTA&hd=1
(could be spoilerish)

Those are impressive videos, and I have followed Project Offset for a time now, and hope to see its release day. This is one of the few non-rpg games that I really want to play, besides Doom4, and a very few others.

When you consider that Just Cause 2 has about 25 times the area of Cyrodiil, it would become astounding.

They are using their own engine. You know when I posted that, I didn't know they were using JC2's engine, I looked it up while posting. After that I installed JC2 to give it a go. That whole thing with motion blur, water simulation, advanced physics runs on my crappy Pentium on MAX settings without lag. It runs better than Hunter which I was not expecting. I think using your own engine is important.

I mean which leading game developer is not using their own propriety engine in the industry but some heavily changed version of someone else's engine. I know one, Duke Nukem Forever!

OK, some new images and wishes:

I hope to see some more attention to detail and lighting, because of the wonders that it can do, like http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/3010.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/465.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/362.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/535.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/613.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/651.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1139.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1794.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1180.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin/upload/gallery/big/cliff.jpg,http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1011.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/885.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1925.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1497.jpg or http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1701.jpg.

When/if Skyrim is implemented, I like to see something like http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1285.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1587.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1839.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1983.jpg or http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2015.jpg.

I like to see some more detailed underwater scenes, like http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1989.jpg or http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2162.jpg.

And when I said that I wanted to see huge caves that could contain whole towns, I meant to see something like http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2399.jpg.

In the end, here are some different computer generated architectural themes, for inspiration: http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2245.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/2890.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/3083.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/3103.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1363.jpg, http://www.3dtotal.com/admin2/front_page/gallery/big/1577.jpg.

Here are two interesting sites that I wanted to share:

http://www.tineye.com/ helps you follow an image's life on the web.

http://www.dexsoft-games.com/models/fantasy.html# has a lot of 3d models for sale and some of them are too like statics of Morrowind and Oblivion.

OK, some more images and suggestions:

If I play a mage character in an rpg game, when I reach the ultimate stage of a school of magic, no matter what it is, I want to feel my power, so when I cast an ultimate spell of a school of magic, I want to see, hear and feel it's immense power, or there is no satisfaction in reaching those power stages.

So when I cast the ultimate spell, I want to see some awe inspiring visual effects, I want to hear the ground shake from the immerse power gathering around my characters, and I want to see the surrounding npcs's shaking legs from the quake and their awe, and I want to hear the befitting sound effects of the gathering the immerse power around my character, and the roar of the final casting of the spell, and I want to see a result if not exactly as devastating like http://www.windows7look.com/walls/wallpapers_room_com___hex_omega_by_trs17_1440x900-wide.jpg, http://www.windows7look.com/walls/wallpapers_room_com___delphian_calamity_zoom_by_alexiuss_1280x960-normal.jpg or http://www.animationmagazine.net/pressbox/spaghetti_twister_sm.jpg, but something befitting of the ultimate spell of a school of magic.

And here are some scenes that I really like to see in any fantasy rpg, if you replace the sci-fi effects of some of those images with their fantasy counterpart:

Heh, real life evolution has made more bizarre creatures than in Oblivion for instance.

http://www.matherart.com/digimather/concept/hrothMeadHall5.jpg

A perfect setting for a fantasy game.

I hope to see a lot of those spooky ghost towns and ruins in games. In the real life, when I went to such a site, I could not help myself but to see the every last corner of those places, even when others told me that those places may be dangerous because they might start to crumble around me.

I would like to see some natural looking cave entrances.

http://meson-la-almazara.eu/sorbas-photos/karst/R1178-cave-entrance.jpg

http://img.uphaa.com/uploads/334/North%20Cave.jpg

Maybe even some that you have to climb to get to, such as these.

http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/wsrp/educational_site/dead_sea_scrolls/cave_4.jpg

http://dave.allen-williams.com/photos/skye/cave1.jpg

I would also like to see some non-hostile fish. Other creatures such as crickets, birds, and even cats, are easy enough to implement solely through sound, but fish are a creature that I need to see in order to believe that they're there.

I would love to see well traveled trade routes. Every now and again, you'd see caravans of medieval or Gypsy styled vardos either coming down the roads, or encamped with guards at a clearing. With people eating, laughing, telling stories, and trading.

Also, I would love to see more sea voyages. Not just a mini quest on a ship, but a few where you are traveling to a destination and can interact with the NPC's on the ships. Would be killer to see a longboat at see, the sail billowing, and the hair textures showing signs of movement too.

Lastly, just for the look of it, I would love for them to have a few wee ones running about in the towns, inns, and settlements.

This is a wonderful idea! Except for the children. We all know where that leads ...

As for the pics that opened this topic, I think the style you presented, for the most part, doesn't fit the artistic style of ES. I think you're on a very clean, high-fantasy which does not fit.

Fallout 3 had children, and even though they were unkillable, I think it was better than none at all. Though I'd like to see more age differences (like sticky being a teen)

Children are tricky subjects, that were ignored, because they are hard to implement properly, but if done so, they would add a lot of atmosphere to a game.

Well some of those pics look a lot like what we saw in Morrowind and especially Oblivion, if more detailed, but for the rest, we have not seen other provinces in detail, so we have a lot of room for imagination and creativity, and those images were selected just for inspiration.

Much more prominent and important http://devar26.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/river.jpg.w560h372.jpg http://coral.ie.lehigh.edu/~ted/wp-content/gallery/whanganui/IMG_5234_SMALL.JPG, that should be travelled as trade routes between valleys since some of the mountainous regions would clearly be too difficult to traverse for caravans.

http://pas.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Images/MurrayRiver.jpg while manning a small ship laden with cargo could be awesome. I'd also like a decent economy system to accompany the presence of traders on roads and rivers. Perhaps a trading guild that you could join, starting as a small runner between villages, moving up to caravans and boats, and eventually rising to the ownership of Skyrim's (or even Tamriel's) largest trade network. Regardless, I'd like commerce to feel more immersive and rewarding - buying goods like salt at small fishing villages and transporting them upriver to a large central city to sell on for a profit, for example.

I hope that after the Oblivion crisis, at least some places around Tamriel should be scorched like http://www.presidiacreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/apocalypse-57.jpg or utterly ruined like http://www.presidiacreative.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/apocalypse-53.jpg.

Huge epic and unique castles, huge mountains, very dark creepy forests. I dont really like the atomsphere and nature in morrowind, i prefer a more real type of nature. If the next is Skyrim then i hope it will look a lot like Norway, except with a additonal fantasy touch on the landscape.

One thing i dislike about Oblivion is that even though the nature looks nice it looks the same all over almost, its hard to notice any diffrence in the areas. The landscapes should be more unqiue and dramatic.
Skyrim i would imagine being something like north and mid-Norway, huge dramatic mountains, really cold, windy, big dark forests in the inland, frostbitten fjords, wildlife, nordlys(aurora-borealis), huge wilderness, and could add some creepy isolated villages, castles.

Examples:

Norway is beautiful. That's how I always imagined High Rock to look like, or like the Scottish Highlands.
