Pictures Of Fallout 3 Characters #8

Post » Sat Aug 15, 2009 8:56 pm

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954263

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidlines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

________________________________________________________________________________

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of our 50th thread (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord7:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)
________________________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.)
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)

To see how to use TAI, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzBWPhQ-iGc video. I assume it works the same way. If it doesn't, this post will be edited to reflect that.

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

I found a topic a while back from someone asking for a mod that would let you smoke, and someone posted two list of commands and how you can use them

Basically if you are on the PC (if not you're Out Of Luck) press ~ to open up the console. Then type "Player.PlayIdle" far as I know the commands are not case sensitive. Once you do that pick one command from these two lists

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/Spi...Animations1.jpg
&
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/Spi...Animations3.jpg

Note that not all of them work.

The command for smoking is

"player.playidle npcsmokingidle"

BE WARNED! Some of those idle commands, such as pushups will loop and you can not stop them. So save your game right before you try doing any of them or else you might find yourself doing an emote forever. I do not know what happens if you do one that loops infinitely and then save - exit - reload. I did not risk it, and you have been warned smile.gif

Using TFC

I noticed earlier today that http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/ToggleFlyCam, which is perhaps better known as "TFC", has had a lot of functionality added to it in Fallout 3.

In Oblivion, the only method by which the game could be frozen was via http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=28507&pid=333720&mode=threaded&start=40#entry333720. However, in Fallout 3, this functionality has become an extension of http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/ToggleFlyCam, as you can see by its documentation on the GECK Wiki.

You can now enter "Fly Cam mode" and simultaneously freeze the game by using either of the following console commands:
ToggleFlyCam 1
ToggleFlyCam 2

My PC character "Xavier Valentine." Some muties thought it would be cool to try and ruin his dinner date with that hot Rivet City Security guard by storming his dockside picnic site. Big mistake you silly Muties.

EDIT: Gah, half the pictures ended up the same for some reason even though I loaded up different ones. Cruddy school computers...

The Chinese invade Tenpenny Tower.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e308/FadeWolf/ScreenShot8.jpg I walked the troops around him, him in the middle, and let them unleash hell. Surprisingly clean death, actually.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e308/FadeWolf/ScreenShot14.jpg, although even after I told them to wait inside, my 5 remaining troops decided to follow me out after a minute or so right as the missiles started flying, thus explaining the flying bodies...

SCARF! I want one. Where could one get one?
EDIT: I think I found it, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5150, right?

No, I just took the mesh and texture from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17240 for Oblivion and very quickly and easily ported it over to Fallout 3 via Blender. I didn't even know that there was a scarf mod out for Fallout 3. Other than importing just the geometry and binding it to the base male body's skeleton, all I had to do to put it in game and looking good was to move a few vertexes on the part draping down as the very top clipped through your shoulders overwise. The Blender script perfectly weighted the scarf to the skeleton so it was ready to go with a quick export and look around in Nifskope to make sure everything was working right.

I pretty much did just that for the mod, only in 3ds Max.

After spending some time this weekend playing around with FOOK I grabbed some AVI's here and there. Finaly decided to sit down tonight and grab a frame to play around with.

The vanilla version: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/9898/saraharan7o.jpg

The retouched version: http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4789/saraharan71.jpg

I had some better frames showing her face, but I only later realised there were some nasty texture mismatches that drove me crazy.

The author didn't lie when he said I'll be at least Level 7 by the time I escape. It's different and I think well done. It would have been easier if I wasn't using MMM's Increased Spawns  A few things took me a while to find and I thought they were bugs then when I did find them on my own realised I probably wasn't looking too hard.

I'm pretty satisfied with Lois since I did her with my bare hands in gene projector without any mods.
I want your opinion, does black or red hair suit her better?

IMO I like the red! I've been trying to make a redhead and can't ever get the skin tone right to go with the hair. You did an excellent job on her :)

You rock

Much thanks.
Sorry I posted and don't have any pic's yet, but after getting 'Enzo' and dealing with installment issues I haven't -yet- really started any new game characters*
But you can bet they'll be wearing this.

*ok, so I haven't recreated the face I want yet. My last one looked so much like me 15-20 yrs ago it was scary. Maybe I'll try taking a picture of the plasma with my phone
Acolyte realizes how weird that last bit would've sounded only 5-8yrs ago..
