Pictures of Fallout Characters #31

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 9:00 pm

Continuing the last topic -

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1091297-pictures-of-fallout-characters-30/

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidelines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of the Oblivion picture thread's 50th iteration (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

From one of our moderators, Rohugh:
You cannot take assets from another game and use them in Fallout, and that includes other BGS games. What you do on your own computer is up to you but we don't want to hear about it or see it.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread.)

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.) Appending a flag argument of "1" (IE: "tfc 1") will freeze EVERYTHING. Projectiles, actors, physics, particle effects, everything. The freecam will still move about though. Also, it seems that any script with a timed element may still run despite its associated ref objects being frozen. This may cause oddities to occur if run during special events.
sucsm x: A UFO cam speed multiplier (shorthand for "setUFOCamSpeedMult" or somesuch). Replace x with a multiplier value.
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)
sgtm x - Changes the Global Time Multiplier, allowing for slow-mo if given a value less than 1. Useful for timing if attempting to set up complicated arranged screenshots. Can be put to values above 1 if you're filming a video and want to do a Yakety Sax sequence.

Help on how to do poses from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=140510

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

Animations:
The Groovatron, a mod requiring FOSE has come out, which provides means to start and stop a wide variety of anims in an easy-to-use interface.

Where did you get that armor mod?

That's a custom job I did. I didn't like the overly large chest plate on the armor, and also a few other things. The decals are separate mesh pieces added on as armor addons. It's part of a mod that I've slowly been working on: "To The Victor Goes The Spoils". Basically, distributes reacquired APA2s to Lyons' Pride and to a few lucky Paladins (gotta do some leveled loot rearranging). Also, gonna have some Brotherhood vertibirds parked outside the Citadel and Purifier after the Enclave is good and dead (possibly with a trip to Edwards AFB), and also gonna try and tweek the Pride's AI routine to include a sweep through the DC ruins (with unkillable mode active on them).

Used a fitting quote from the Sam Griffith translation of Sun Tzu applicable to immediately usable spoils of war. Lots of seemingly anachronistic bits in that work are still applicable today.

What is that weapon being held by Soap 2277? Is it a retexture of an existing weapon or a new one?

Great pictures!

Decided it was time for an updated character pic. She just finished WSG, and is on her way back to Moira to give her some attitude and pick up her snide guru perk.

Is it possible to go into 3rd person after I hit the tilde key? Sometimes I wont know till the instant it happens that I want a screenshot of something that is happining with my character. So I hit tilde, type tfc 1 and tm .... then realize I'm not in third person so I cant see my character when moving the camera around. And of course after undoing tfc 1 and tm, the action is over before I can go into 3rd person and type in commands I'd like to use on screenshots.

Not as far as I know. I've lost out on plenty of great screens for the same reason :(

Hmm ... off to the mod request thread then :) .... although I think if it could be something added in the game, it would probably already be done.

Thanks, Expresate. Yes, I'm using DC Interiors (a wonderful mod all around)- this was taken inside of the Robco Terminal Sales and Service office in Seward Square. :)

Has DC Interiors got see-through windows, now? That shot looks good, but also eerie :)

You know, not every interior I visited had those windows, Mystyk- just a couple of locations, in Seward Square anyway. I wonder if more are planned, or if there's a gremlin in my Data folder who is responsible for this.

I should update. I haven't done it for ages as I like to update when something major has been changed, not just for minor edits. It's how I got sick of MMM for Oblivion as in the end I had to update about 4 times a week due to some little thing they missed.

Had a lot of fun in Vernon Square last night. I made sure to get Charon before I delved too far into DC.

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/4782/48054767.jpg reminded me a bit of the opening (or closing) credits of Get Smart. Or Time Crisis. I'd kill one Super Mutant and another would pop out from behind another door :)

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/8618/82130773.jpg - I'm hiding under the stairs because Charon had them, too, and I got caught in the cross-fire between fireballs and minigun bullets, plus a SM jumped down to smack me over the head with a sledgehammer. It was lots of fun in the bar that night. Not!
I had to take some stimpaks from one of them later as I couldn't cope with http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9351/17866096.jpg with a concussion. Plus it looks as if Harkness rarely uses his anyway :( Must fix that.
I do have an image of my concussion, but I'm wearing armor that I can't show here :(

I have learnt: Only one follower should have Fireball 03's, not all of them! Plus doing the Ranger quest at Level 7 really isn't a good idea especially playing on Normal difficulty with FWE's options set to Default.
