Pictures of Fallout Characters #19

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:05 am

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954263

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidelines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of our 50th thread (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord7:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

From one of our moderators, Rohugh:
The rule is simple - you cannot take assets from another game and use them in Fallout, and that includes other BGS games. What you do on your own computer is up to you but we don't want to hear about it or see it.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)
________________________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.) Appending a flag argument of "1" (IE: "tfc 1") will freeze EVERYTHING. Projectiles, actors, physics, particle effects, everything. The freecam will still move about though. Also, it seems that any script with a timed element may still run despite its associated ref objects being frozen.
sucsm x: A UFO cam speed multiplier (shorthand for "setUFOCamSpeedMult" or somesuch). Replace x with a multiplier value.
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)

To see how to use TAI, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzBWPhQ-iGc video. I assume it works the same way. If it doesn't, this post will be edited to reflect that.

Help on how to do poses from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=140510

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

Animations:
The Groovatron, a mod requiring FOSE has come out, which provides means to start and stop a wide variety of anims in an easy-to-use interface.

Excuse me for being an idiot, but how did you do that?

Do what? The screen effects? (photoshop) The Armor? (BF2142 mod) the animation? (Fallout Re-Animated) Something else I can't think of?

Sorry but I need some help here. I typed "tai" and that worked. Then I typed "tfc" but how do I move the camera? I just seem frozen. I tried moving the mouse like I was moving forward and nothing happened. I can't seem to figure out how to move out of the first person view to see my character. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

EDIT:

Ok, I think maybe I know what to do after checking something. Let me load up and try again.

EDIT:

Ok figured it out. Thanks.

in beth games it's just like controlling the character, but you can move in all three directions...

Yep, the other thing I was missing was that I needed to close the console again before I could move the camera. Thanks.

The armor. Last I checked, it was female only.

They just set it to appear on both male and female in the GECK. The model is still the same though.

Though, to me anyway, it looks rather androgynous... so it looks great to me

Yes, easily

open the mod in fo3edit. locate the armor in the mod. look for male biped model. in "model Filename" set it to the same path as the female version.

Thank you very much, it worked! It looks weird on a male though, considering it is made for females.

Well, it's a little slimmer, but, like I said, at least to me, it looks pretty androgynous :P

The thighs look too wide, and the upper body looks too thin, IMO. Hope the creator can make a male version soon.

I did the same after I downloaded it, but it didn't suit my companion and looked better on my female character. Not that I've played the game it came from, but I would have thought that type of outfit would've been more suited to a male anyway.

Yaknow, one of these days, gamesas may decide to do a culling on these boards if they discover how rampantly rips from other games are happening. And this thread will be a lot less populous if that ever does happen. That's why I really think it's a bad idea to touch these mods, and FO3Nexus is playing with fire allowing for redirects. They don't allow for links to pirated copies, why this?

All it takes is one wrong set of eyes to see these, and then the lawyers will get restless. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

With that said, new thread time... Please wait.

about the whole nexus and redirects well technically when it comes to "forbidden" mods nexus doesnt actually have the files at all so it actually is more of a potential legal problem for the hoster of the file so its kinda like "passing the buck" on to somebody else.

I don't think this is correct, the lawyers don't go after sites with Links into other sites, they go after the hoster of the illegal content. Google has tons of links that you could find which lead to bad places, and you don't see them getting sued.

I agree that gamesas may take down certain posts here on These forums, and they could go after individuals who steal or mis-use their content, but I don't see any risk to Nexus itself from that.

The difference between Google and Nexus's is that Google's are generated by a program while the ones on Nexus are consciously put up by a person and consciously allowed by the Nexus staff. I again bring up the piracy argument: By that logic, it would be okay for links to pirate downloads to exist there... since Nexus isn't hosting them, it should A-OK, right?

They are consciously enabling distribution of forbidden content by allowing links to download sites for said content to exist on their webspace.

Guys? Can we keep the discussions in discussion threads, unless they are about the images? I mean, this is a IMAGE thread, not a discussion thread.
That being said, I should get my latest images uploaded. Nothing epic, but I like them.
