Pictures of Fallout Characters #24

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 6:44 pm

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1050607
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954263

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidelines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of the Oblivion picture thread's 50th iteration (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord7:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

From one of our moderators, Rohugh:
You cannot take assets from another game and use them in Fallout, and that includes other BGS games. What you do on your own computer is up to you but we don't want to hear about it or see it.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)
________________________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.) Appending a flag argument of "1" (IE: "tfc 1") will freeze EVERYTHING. Projectiles, actors, physics, particle effects, everything. The freecam will still move about though. Also, it seems that any script with a timed element may still run despite its associated ref objects being frozen.
sucsm x: A UFO cam speed multiplier (shorthand for "setUFOCamSpeedMult" or somesuch). Replace x with a multiplier value.
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)

To see how to use TAI, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzBWPhQ-iGc video. I assume it works the same way. If it doesn't, this post will be edited to reflect that.

Help on how to do poses from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=140510

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

Animations:
The Groovatron, a mod requiring FOSE has come out, which provides means to start and stop a wide variety of anims in an easy-to-use interface.

Everyone's favorite mercenary has returned! B)

Akema "Ghoul Eye"

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e29/cyborgakadjmoose/Fallout%203/Akema%202/Fallout32009-11-1301-57-57-85-edit.jpg

Money and brute force; the only things that anyone in the wasteland respects. Unfortunately for Akema as a young child she had none of these. Being spared the worst of mutations that an individual could have been born with, she was born with a peculiar set of red eyes; eyes that closely resembled those of a ghoul. Her eyes frequently made her a target for prejudice in the small village that she lived in. Her parents had died soon after she was born, leaving her an orphan in the care of the village families. Her childhood was difficult, like most children growing up in the wasteland, but relatively uneventful. That was, until her foster mother returned to their home one night in a drunken rage. Convinced that Akema was a ghoul, her step-mother grabbed a knife and carved out Akema's right eye to see if it grew back. By her step-mother's drunken reasoning, if it grew back, Akema was a ghoul and did not deserve to live.

Akema never forgave her step-mother for her injury, and since then has worn a patch over her right eye. When Akema was fourteen, she ran away from her home and set out on her own; but not before putting a bullet in her step-mother's brain. Akema eventually came into contact with a group of mercenaries who wandered across the wasteland, going from settlement to settlement and offering their services. They accepted her as one of their own and trained her in their deadly skills. It was from her surrogate family of comrades that she first felt welcome in spite of her appearance, and where she gained the nickname, "Ghoul Eye."

Eight years later at the age of 22, Akema set off on her own to earn a name for herself, selling her deadly skills as a mercenary to any willing to pay.

This is my second version of this character, the first of which you can see http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7154. I uploaded her save to the Nexus for a mod Arabian Knight was making, but it seems that mod fell through awhile ago. Unfortunately due to some mod incompatibilites I was not able to transfer her original face from her savegame. I'm still working on it, but I think I have come close to mirroring her original face.

@cyborgakadjmoose - nice pics, good story

And so darkness befalls our Vault Dweller turned Waste Lander, as she enters yet another chapter in the dark ruins and decay.
And from the anols of the ancient book by Cormac McCarthy "The Road" she can't help but recite those pulitzer prize winning lines, "Hungry Boy?"

This stuff is great, really inspired. I'm just unsure onhow it's all done? I mean alot of this stuff looks like it's done using character models out of say Poser, or something like that just for the purpose of a picture. Do all of these 'run' in game? Because it looks all 'set-up' for a particular shot?

I love this stuff, i do digital art on photoshop and stuff and would love to post stuff on here but there's no way i could do anything with polygons or wiremeshes and stuff. So is it not allowed if it doesn't work? Or is anything arty accepted?

I hope that made sense.

Ah, I didn't know you uploaded her. So, I downloaded her and thought she didn't look the same, but looking again at the above images and she looked the same, or as good as Facegen Exchange can do :)
I don't use Dimon's whole race pack, just the face texture from it and his separate Type 3 body mod.

I thought about releasing Cynna - I even have the fresh, clean savegames, which took all of 5 minutes to make. But I don't know. I normally let them go when I start a brand new one. But, I've restarted Cynna several times. Once due to corruption and once due to boredom with the "I've done everything and am Level 30" save.
Most people prefer a Vault Exit save, but she looks more like the screenshots with the Alternate Start save as the utility I used to transfer her face over didn't get it perfect.
She's really an 'Alternate Start' character.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/4761/cynnaas.jpg - the shack was too dark so I used coc to move her.

I just don't know

Rainstorm? As in real rain? I've had snow, from a mod of course, but only vaguely remember a mod that does rain. Though I didn't know if it had been completed yet.

Yeah, it can do Snow too. I run the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6170 mod. It gets really wild during a full blown Thunderstorm (Also: Sneak Bonus during Thunderstorms!)

The only annoying part of it is that it functions EVERYWHERE - including Simulated Game environments. Irradiated Rain in the middle of Operation: Anchorage was annoying (But there is the option to switch it over to Snow, which actually helped immersion), but it was fun when a rainstorm rolled into Tranquility Lane. Apparently, the monochrome of Tranquility Lane is a Weather Effect, since when the storm moved in, everything faded into color. That was actually very entertaining.

Actually, I really love the Rain Effect. It seems to toggle on at key dramatic moments (Or maybe I'm just lucky): The First Behemoth Fight, the climix of Tranquility Lane (Good Karma version), and my personal favorite, going whole hog Thunderstorm http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/GuardConvoy/Pictures/ScreenShot8.jpg. If you've got a Thunderstorm rolling, you actually can hear it within the building too. So yeah, you can imagine how that helped. I left the Rad Counter in that image just to show that it actually is irradiated rain falling.

Now for something completely different:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/GuardConvoy/Pictures/ScreenShot21.jpg (Heh, just realized this one also gives a little peek at the Neck Accessory I run around with courtesy of the DC Interiors Mod - the sixy Slave Collar - +1 Charisma!)

Of course, I remember that one. Sounds like my PC could actually handle that mod, now. I was using Snowball Earth for the nuclear winter. The only downside to that was it also snowed indoors. I don't mind standing under a verandah and having it come through the roof (it can't be helped) but deep inside a sewer? No, I didn't like that.
Nice Dunwich image, hearing the weather within the building would be pretty creepy. Expecially in there. I must have it, though :hehe:

Okay, I'm sold on that mod, I'll go grab that!

Aye. I'd already turned off GNR to get the "maximum experience" but when I heard the Thunder roaring through the walls...well. Add in the Holotapes and Dunwitch got spooky for the first time in a very long time.

And yeah, the Rain and Snow kick off once you zone indoors. But outdoor shelters provide Zero protection (Which only makes sense after 200 years, I wouldn't really expect much protection).

Yeah, I only uploaded her for that one mod to be made into an npc, but that didn't happen...otherwise I usually don't upload my characters or anything like that.

Nice. I like both the look and the backstory that goes with her. Really feels like an authentic character in the Fallout world.
