Pictures of Fallout Characters #26

Post » Wed Feb 03, 2010 4:42 am

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1058713
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954263

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidelines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of the Oblivion picture thread's 50th iteration (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord7:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

From one of our moderators, Rohugh:
You cannot take assets from another game and use them in Fallout, and that includes other BGS games. What you do on your own computer is up to you but we don't want to hear about it or see it.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)
________________________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.) Appending a flag argument of "1" (IE: "tfc 1") will freeze EVERYTHING. Projectiles, actors, physics, particle effects, everything. The freecam will still move about though. Also, it seems that any script with a timed element may still run despite its associated ref objects being frozen.
sucsm x: A UFO cam speed multiplier (shorthand for "setUFOCamSpeedMult" or somesuch). Replace x with a multiplier value.
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)

To see how to use TAI, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzBWPhQ-iGc video. I assume it works the same way. If it doesn't, this post will be edited to reflect that.

Help on how to do poses from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=140510

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

Animations:
The Groovatron, a mod requiring FOSE has come out, which provides means to start and stop a wide variety of anims in an easy-to-use interface.

Ol' Stars & Stripes is missing a few stars if you notice. She believes in causes and ideals, but also sees the values of misbehaving as long as it doesn't go against her values and ideals. For instance, she hates slavery but she's currently working on the Strictly Business quest with the intention of mass murdering every slaver in Paradise Falls at the end. She has to suffer it for a little while, but in the end gets what she wants.

She loves the Brotherhood of Steel, won't kill them, as she stands for the good fight, but does she *help* them when theyre under attack by a big ugly mutty? No, that would mean less holotags to find, and that goes against her selfish side. Does it mean she doesn't hide behind a concrete wall at the citadel and snipe at the useless initiates from time to time for bad karma? It's good training for them, run and hide or die.

Pfffffffff. Upstairs, and all the radroaches eat it.

I was cleaning out my screenshot folder for duplicates just now and found this one for you:
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/29882-1262131477.jpg "Hulk...maaddddd"

But the flag is appropriate according to the Fallout world. ;)
Flexible morals, eh? Well, that seems pretty realistic. Most people have different morals for different situations.

 Poor initiates!

Nope. Their "business" is what adds the corrosive element that eats your boots to the Nuka Cola Quantum. Not that it was very healthy to begin with, being radiated and all. :P
(I wonder if Sierra will eventually mutate once she's drunk all those Quantums... Into a Nuka Mutant maybe. :P)

Hehehe, how appropriate! :D
Is she at Shaleridge? I think I recall the green wisp stalks glowing at night.

Can you tell what NPC organization Mazzy joined? :P

The Royal Hunters? :P
She's received an invitation from Tenpenny to join his fellows on one of their hunts maybe? ;)

I"m using widescreen thou the last week or so I"ve taken the comp into the livingroom and have been playing on our 42inch widescreen lcd. Much to my wifes horror I'm addicted to it now. I find myself sitting watching it biting my nails till my next fix.

Well, I'll say the widescreen does make for some quite nice landscape shots. ^_^

I know I know, but it still really messes with me!

I can't remember where I took that screen...that was the result of me hitting the wrong light setting in the grooveatron's settings. Needless to say, it wound up in the screens folder until you prompted the hulk joke. ;)

(I wonder if Sierra will eventually mutate once she's drunk all those Quantums... Into a Nuka Mutant maybe.

If she doesn't...someone has to mod that!

Reminds me of a comment my sister says anytime someone drinks water around her "You know what fish do in that?". If nexus would load I've got another fitting shot that I so want to caption with Aislyn saying to Charon with a classic look on her face "Do you know what Nukalurks do in this stuff?!"

(And btw, I didn't finish my thought out earlier about the brotherhood. By not killing them I meant the useful ones, you know the ones who actually go out and fight. Though sometimes she pretty much does by not helping like she did earlier at Falls Church.)

I'm assuming Mazzy http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/29882-1261571141.jpg since you said NPC organization instead of quest...??

I used the enhanced Regulators mod and Alistair Tenpenny is one notch below Jenkins on the most-wanted list. Unfortunately, even with that rifle, Tenpenny seems to have a kevlar balcony protecting him and I couldn't find an angle within the gun's range to hit him from.

Do you have a link to the mod? The four I found in my search didn't really sound like they'd be it. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2928 sounds promising, though I don't know if that's the one.
Rescuing captives gets old after a while, hunting down people on a hitlist sounds like more fun :hehe:

That's the one. To be honest the hitlist is fairly short (about 7-8 people I think, mostly in Paradise Falls) but it relocates the Regulators and makes their presence in the wastelands more noticeable. The headquarters is fairly nice and they have added a nice new duster with 32DR (I still use the outfit in the screenshots from Tailor Made which gives me 36DR in total however).

Question: What is this mod incompatible with in FO3 v1.5? It states such in the info blurb.

Was it just the general ESP problem that v1.5 had?

More like 1.5 patch was incompatible with Fallout since it broke so many things.

Ihave added two mods to my load order today, one of which was this mod after seeing it in this thread. the other allowed me to take dogmeat to point lookout with me. needless to say one of the two has ruined almost an entire days worth of saves. to be on the safe side untill i nail down which one, i have disabled both of them. problem i ran into was inability to kill certain feral ghouls. talk about living forever.

well, like i said, i'm not sure which one it was. may be a conflict with another one of my many mods. both of them will remain unchecked untill i can nail it down. oh well, it really looks like a nice mod.

I was about ready to track them down while I'm still on the good karma side of things (silly how many things a girl has to do to be evil these days.) I'll check that mod out!

Do you use MMM as well? It could be that. I had that problem in Point Lookout. What I did was select a ghoul in the console and type isghost, it'd return 1, so I'd then type setghost 0, or something to that effect. It took me a few goes to get the command right. Then I could kill them. Some are set as ghosts, just like kids. It's probably just an accident they were like that, or some game-thing that I don't understand.
I haven't seen them on this play through. Everything dies as it should.

Playing in Photoshop I learnt something new :hehe: I'd downloaded some photoshop thingies (brushes, stamps, etc) and tried them on the Chinese Stealth Suit. It's not perfect - a bit stretchy-looking downstairs - but I quite like it.
No fancy posing, though. Krysten models the CSA and Harkness has the Reinforced CSA. I forgot he had that. I also forgot the Reinforced uses the textures from the ordinary stealth suit. I've such a mish-mash of textures and mods for that armor. I do not like the dome-head, unfortunately my 'tinkering' brought it back. So, it's not shown as it's ugly.

I only did the pattern. It was originally all black.
The bulkier armor is the Reinforced Chinese Stealth Suit by Gaijune. I've been using that forever. She even sleeps in it

Great! Glad it worked for you and you didn't lose your saves :)
