Pictures Of Fallout Characters No.29

So far I'm finding that I'm getting great responce in WinXP and the visuals maxed out run solid. Win7 thou it seems sluggish and I can see odd issues with the grass @ times with low AA so I"m getting used to WinXP just for beth games again.

Yes, I am considering dual booting with XP as well to see if I can run at better quality than I currently do with less stuttering.

Precisely.

Next question, I'm using CASM to handle my saves, if I start a different game how does the saves work? I saw something about different profiles.

You use the CASM options in your pipboy to switch to a different profile. I've never actually used it though since I use manual saves as well. What I usually do though is make subfolders in my save folders for different mod layouts. I just move my saves back and forth in and out of the main save folder to the subfolders when I switch mod layouts as per my previous post.

For me with the same settings on both XP not only looks alot better but runs alot more stable. I"d do it if I were you.

And to keep it on topic..and old repost from a couple pc builds - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v476/MainframeTM/Fallout/1.jpg

I've got the performance pack installed with the patch. Running around Megaton and it would usually be around 59-61 fps, maybe dipping a little lower on short occasions. Once I stepped outside, between standing there and running around it would vary from ~35-45 fps rarely ever going higher than 45 fps. I blew up a car right in front of me using god mode for testing, and it only showed around 29 fps. Hunted some raiders and during the firefight it stayed for the most part in the 30 fps range. I was coming up to a river and all of a sudden it shot right down to 1 fps then came right back up, I do suppose that could be in conjunction with having full water reflections? I dunno, either I'm going to get rid of it as it didn't change the gameplay enough for me to warrant the lags, or I could try to mess with the settings, or just try the lite pack. I should note, I do have a grass and trees mod.

Anywho, screenies both related to NMC's textures and not related. I was also hoping fraps fps would have been recorded in the screenies, but oh well.

I'm running FO3 on a 5 year old Athlon x2 3800+ OC to 2.6GHz with 2G ram and ancient NVidia GTS8800 with 320MB ram, 4xAA, 4xAniso, and game sliders 2/3 max. I also have 4ace texture pack and FWE and the game runs fine with occasional stutter when loading new cells. I had severe thrashing until I pulled the ram from the server and stuck it in. I think you should be alright as long as you keep memory usage down and be wary when a mod description says "high quality textures". Run RivaTuner or some other system profiler to see the memory footprint while the game is running.

The good thing about http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3288 is it unpacks the bsa file so you can compare the sizes of the files you're replacing with other mods. Ofcourse the bad thing is that you need to be extra careful about overwriting things. It looks slightly better than NMC-Low and I recommend it for people with non-standard vid memory configurations like mine. Rivatuner says I'm using 300MB in game.

I also recommend, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3633, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1949, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10853, http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12310

Ironically enough I just downloaded rivetuner for different reasons. I'll look into that, I do know though, when idling the game uses just under 1G. It's about the same every single time I've checked.

I use Rivet City FPS. The only difference I've noticed (and that helps) is the removal of that barrel in the marketplace. It's still pretty laggy in the corridors for me, though. The muzzle flash one would be helpful, too, actually. In my game if more than two NPC's are using Chinese Assault Rifles I have to destroy them first above all else, even at the cost of my life  The game slows considerably when a bunch of Super Mutants use them all at the same time.
Wasteless Wasteland, that's what I was going to get. Thanks for that link :)
I also have to remember to get that one for Point Lookout.

I forgot to mention http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11116.

Reduced muzzle flashes and rivet city FPS make a big difference. The rest of them add a few FPS here and there but every bit helps for those of us with weak comps.

PS. The clutter removal mods don't extend to DLCs. I noticed the clutter returned in Broken Steel related cells but so far so good.

I'll have to give 4Ace a try. I just tried NMC's LITE and it basically looks like back when you would run Oblivion on Very Low settings.

Also, I'm fairly jealous sir. I get about 10 FPS max in most places on my brand new laptop. 4GB of RAM, but the dual-core processor is kind of low end and the graphics card of course isn't the best.

EDIT:
So many files! What do I download? The Hybrid Normals?

Just the TM Meshes + TM Textures + Texmesh Patches.

But if your laptop is brand new, your CPU should be heaps better than mine. I have the suspicion that your laptop uses low end onboard video. Laptops have a bad habit of using those.

I remember seeing one for Point Lookout a while ago. It mostly cleans up all the little boxes on the boardwalk. I don't know where it is, or what it's called, now. I'm sure ghouls could find it. She can find anything :hehe:

@Miss Sparkle: It's bound to happen but it's strange when it does. Your character looks a lot like someone I know. Hair and all

Lol! Sorry about that :P Don't worry, she was short lived, only wanted to test out the hair in the game :) Right now the new http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/9638/screenshot9p.png, I am very please with. I am waiting for 1 or 2 more to be done and then I can finally get the final look of my character :D

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does. My desktop used it and was especially horrible. I couldn't even play Fallout 3 because I was literally getting less than 5 FPS. Oddly enough though, I could play Oblivion at medium settings with some tweaking and play that. On this laptop, Oblivion runs horribly and Fallout runs alright.

Thanks :) I'm still messing with things playing around with some addons for it. So far I think this is the best out of all I've tried. Only problem is this is what I wear into combat, and the DR is very low...

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/71boss351/fallout3/ScreenShot90.jpg I almost didn't even recognize it!

And a few pics just to show how dark it gets, and why I'm afraid of venturing into the streets of DC at night :cold:

I accidentally used the print screen key isntead of FRAPS for this one, so it came out messed up, but I thought it looked pretty cool and very post-apocalyptic so I kept it :)

Well, just the Sky folder (that's all I use). The moon will then look http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/160921-1258336969.JPG.

I suppose that large could be unnatural, but I like it :)
I have also changed my moon to look like the Death Star and the Borg Cube. That was really creepy so I switched it back :cold:

Some oldies as I don't have any newies.
