Pictures of Fallout Characters #30

So it'll be a bit of time before my first images start showing up here. Hopefully they'll be up to the standards you folks have set.

I look forward to seeing your screenshots. :)

I'm actually using http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10100. I'm also using NMC's texture performance pack, and with those two there may be a little bit of a fps hit when new cells are loading, sometimes it'll go down to 20-30 fps but not often. But that is measuring with fraps, and fraps itself causes a fps hit. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I installed Summer before NMC's texture pack, I don't recall many fps hits at all really.

Why use that instead of the more well known enviro overhaul mods? Not saying that you made a bad choice.

I wasn't sure which one to use, and I think ghouls recommended summer so I tried it out. She's a bad influence on me :P

Grr. Now I have to ask someone else.

I hate my life. Asking people is so hard. I die a little inside every time I ask a question. :sadvaultboy:

That's why I use Summer instead of any other tree mods. :)

What program are you using to add the speech bubbles?

What program are you using to add the speech bubbles?

Photoshop and below is a guide that I made when Oblivion was still fresh.

Spoiler
How to make text bubbles in Photoshop.

In photoshop I use the elipse tool to make the bubble, text tool for the text, either I adjust the text size or bubble. For the talk I use the polygonal lasso tool and make a triangle having the top point to the character and paint it white, I merge the bubble and triangle together and have the text merge into the bubble. The thought bubble is basically the same thing but just don't use the triangle and use the elipse tool and make smaller bubbles. To make them abit more nice I usually double click the bubble or right-click and goto blending options and use the stroke effect, I set the size to 1 or 2 and for the colour it can be black (basic) or my last speech coversation pictures I used a dark purple for the dark seducer and dark red for the dremora.

My older shots used different speech bubbles because photoshop wasn't working for me at the time so I used paint shop pro. For that I used the preset shape tool and the text tool to make my text bubbles and the elipse tool to make the thought bubbles.

You can make the text bubbles more colourfull in photoshop by using the Styles shown here and make your screenshot cooler.
The same can be done in paint shop pro with Swatches that is shown here.

With enough fiddling around you can make text bubbles like this or better!

Ah, thank you. I think I still have a copy of CS3 floating around here somewhere. Are the later versions any better? I have a friend owns a graphics design company and always has spare copies of different programs because of volume licensing.

If you don't have http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2672 installed you will need to install it to help get the natural beauty out of the wasteland again. That first shot at the Memorial wouldn't have been possible without Fellout :)

Thanks for the tip - that's another one I'm looking hard at, as well as Dynamic Weather. I want to see some rain and snow every now and then, damnit.

Other mods that I'm looking to get (besides the basics like FOMM, FOSE, Invalidate Validate (?), etc.) include Feng Shui, something to replace the night sky (I'm a bit of an astronomy nut), replacement body models, Megaton/Tenpenny house mods, and definitely something to expand the dreadful choice of character hairstyles available in the vanilla game.

And naturally, I'll be trying the biggies like FWE and MMM at some point.

I'm sure I'll find others I want to use. I've barely scratched the surface of what's available at The Nexus.

I would have tried the weather mods, but I don't like the fact that it rains everywhere in the outside world. Meaning, even though there's a roof over your head, as long as you're outside you're getting rained on. It's a total immersion breaker for me :(

You don't need Archive Invalidation Invalidated or whatever it's called if you install FOMM, as FOMM has the tool already. If you want to replace the night sky, I suggest downloading http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6170 and extracting ONLY the sky textures to the Fallout 3 data folder to get your nights to look like http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/71boss351/fallout3/ScreenShot105.jpg, in conjunction with Fellout. There are several body replacers, as a forewarning most (probably all) require you to have an account set up on the Nexus if that's where you're looking. Otherwise, they won't show up when searching.

A little bit of advice, FWE and MMM are great mods, and go together like they were meant to, but FWE is best used when starting a new character.

Well I use CS2 so i can't say if the later ones are better but the older ones are still good for editing stuff.

Thanks very much for the tips and pointers about mods - there are so darned many of them that it gets really confusing which ones contain which tools and utilities.

That svcks about the weather mods, but from further reading it seems to be a limitation in the game engine itself and there is no way to get around getting rained whenever you're outside, regardless of shelter.

I've already created an account at the Nexus - figured I'd be doing it sooner or later anyway, so I might as well just go ahead and get that out of the way.

Regarding FWE and MMM, that was actually going to be one of my very first questions, whether I should install them before starting a new character or if I should install and use them with an existing one. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Yea, it's definitely confusing at times, a lot of my mods were recommendations from other people, or mods I've seen in threads like these :)

You can install mods like FWE in the middle of a game (I'm pretty sure of this) but the best effects from the mod are had when playing from the beginning. As for MMM it doesn't really matter much when it's installed. You'll notice the changes, but I'm not gonna spoil it.

To stay a little on track, I don't think I've posted this here. http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo232/71boss351/fallout3/ScreenShot211.jpg.
