I've run into a couple of those things - they are tough to take down. Dogmeat helps out a lot with them.

I screwed up my last encounter with one, though. It spawned right outside of Megaton while Crow was there, and I decided I'd try and take it out with a Nuka Grenade.

Bad idea. The grenade went a bit too far, and Crow, his brahmin and his guard got caught in the blast. :facepalm: Crow and the Brahmin ran off in flames, and by the time I had dropped the Matriarch, the caravan guard, who has 15,000 hit points along with Crow and the brahmin, is blasting away at Dogmeat.

That whole quest was such a nightmare. http://a.imageshack.us/img197/4425/77202004.jpg only one body part wasn't crippled and that was her right arm, and we were totally out of medical braces. The only good thing that happened was she gooped Autumn on the first shot :laugh: Unfortunately Sarah Lyons snagged his gun. Oh well.
But, despite the craziness it was fun. Not as fun as the Taft Tunnels, though. I got that on Fraps for once
