thanks! i've actually downloaded custom faces before, but they required the use of a save file and trapped me in prison. using singular do you have to create a custom race, import/assign the texture, and STILL have to edit the face geometry? or is it all integrated in the program? if they absolutely have to be custom race, i wouldn't mind having unique companion(s).
is there a way to use the save file parameters towards making a companion?
You can begin game normally and leave the cell with the Emperor using Custom Race Fix:

All of my main playable characters are made from duplicate races of either the Imperial or Breton (for shorter characters) race. I name my race by replacing the duplicate race name under the Text Data tab, whether it be Imperial or Breton, with a name of my choosing, which will show up in the game if I go into console mode using showracemenu. Yes, I still have to edit the face geometry and even the facial textures in console mode. If it is integrated into the program I have not figured out how it's done. When creating a CM Partner from my main playable character I create the partner, then go into Wrye Bash and select the partner I created, right click on it and import the face from the saved game of the playable character, which is imported as SGunknown something. I get into Construction set and switch the CM Partners race to the one my playable character is using, then look down the NPC list till I find the face I copied from the playable character. I there is a copy function and a paste function, so I paste the playable characters face onto my CM partner and make sure the first geometry number of the partner matches that of the playable character face. If it does not I enter the number in and hit enter. I bring up the CM partner again and the numbers should be nearly identical. I go to File/Tools and 'combine loaded plugins' instead of save, so that my CM partner retains the playable characters race, hair, etc.
But thats probably way too much info than you asked for, sorry.
New freckled character:
