piecemental armour

For me a big part of an RPG is actually creating a unique character. A big part of this is armor customization. Im sure everyone can tell where I stand...

Completely agree with you. Oblivion's armor system was simplified compared to Morrowind's to fix the problems with Morrowinds armor system. I think I might shed a few tears if Skyrim is simplified even more.

Fixed.

so gloves , front arm , rear arm , shoulder , pectoral , stomach , belt , upper leg , lower leg , boot , helmet

Oh God no.

The ones underlined would be a nightmare, and would seriously hinder artistic freedom if they had to make every suit of armor something that would divide into that many pieces.

Not really.
Besides, most armor types would already be designed that way be appearence. The ones that aren't could simply take up multiple spots. You could make a one suit in oblivion, so if the artist couldn't make separate items he could just combine them! It would work, although his idea may be a little more extreme, although it would be a godsend for modders who want more slots...

Yeah,that's a bit overkill.
Morrowind system with seperate boots is just fine for the armor I think.Customization is needed indeed.
Other things like belts, robes, cloaks and quivers should be included too.

I always got the feel they made armor fewer pieces in Oblivion is because we could enchant our own armor. If we could have so many pieces, we could have gotten close to 250% reflect probably. Of course, that could be completely off. That's just the reason that came to mind in my head while playing.

Personally, I say get rid of personally enchanted stuff so we can personally build our armor. More pieces, standard stuff. Doesn't have to be crazy, just a good amount that makes sense.

They didn't need to remove armor slots because they messed with the enchant system. It was never a problem in Morrowind because armor pieces had a limit to enchantments.

I want to see something like the tailor maid mod for fallout 3. You have the main armor that is full body, but you also have tons of little pieces like shoulder pads, kilts, belts, new shoes or new gloves you can wear over your main armor.

Well, they should have kept said limits then. Like I said, that's just how I felt about the whole deal. Not if it was true or not.

More Slots less high value enchantments, double the number of slots half the maximum enchantment level.

Don't like left/right so find a second of any type and it should be able to be used.

A full armour set of same type gives a small bonus, maybe 5% over mismatched so it doesn't become overpowered.

clothes under and robes over, cold metal in skyrim and you'd freeze to the inside of your armour after the first battle with nothing to soak up the sweat!!

This. With emphasis. Limit max enchantment on items, don't break the limits in place with Dragon Shouts Sigil Stones, and bingo- you're golden.

I also prefered the Morrowind way of more pieces and clothes underneath it. It tends to look a little odd if you have boots but no... I forgot the name, but the part that goes on the upper part of your legs, so that it looks like your character forgot to put pants on in the morning.

The part in question was referred to in the game as "Greaves", but real greaves are actually shinguards (protecting the lower leg). The proper name for thigh protectors would be "Cuisses". I believe that "Tassets" is the name of the parts that hung down from the cuirass to protect the hips, groin, and posterior. Of course, with Bethesda calling volcanic glass "ebony" (a form of wood), and other odd naming, anything is possible.

They doubled the amount of armour pieces in Fallout 3.

Armor slots and BIP slots are not the same thing.

the more player customization, the better. while I don't think it's necessary to separate gloves/boots, i REALLY liked the individual pauldrons and bracers.

there's other non-armor things I think would be cool to see, such as belts or capes. and being able to wear a robe over your armor, or clothes under your armor was also nice.

my biggest disappointment in Oblivion was the simplified equipment selection (not the amount of unique items, but the lack of categories of items).

system like in TES3
but
regarding left and right boots/shoes.
one possible solution- to wear boots/shoes you need two items, left and right
when you click on one item it automatically equips (or removes) another if you have such
if you have only left or right boot, than message should appear, that you can't wear single boot.

Someone have worn different shoes? It is pain in the faking [censored], you start to move slower, feet get tired faster and you look ridiculous.
So wearing separated boots/shoes is out of question, but keeping them as separate items would be ok.

Also wanted to point out one more thing.

Gloves of hard suits should also improve HtH damage (depending on material and Unarmed skill)
Because it is not the same when hitting with bare hand or with heavy steel gloves

Indeed robes , capes and equipment visible on the character woudl be cool , Like imagine also a backpack , the bigger the more stuff it can carry , the severall items you wear that do not fit in it could be portrayed outside like bow , quiver , maces , water flask etc ...
