Pilgrim's Path Puzzlment

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 4:26 am

Hi all,

I'm a bit puzzled about the following: I can no longer open and read "The Pilgrim's Path". I have it in my inventory but I cannot actually read it. If I select it and drag it to my avatar it simply deselects...
When I picked up the book in Mournhold I could read it, now I am on the Hlaalu Hortator quest, following the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trials I can't.

(I also noticed that the locations of the shrines are not on the map, although the wiki says this is a side effect of the MPP).

At first I thought that maybe I couldn't read the book anymore as I was now a heretic and therefore not recognised as being able to do the quest, but now I'm not so sure. Any ideas anyone?

I have the MPP, and the MCP and the MGE - but no other major full-game mods.

Thanks a lot,
Phon.

ALSO, soomething else I noticed was that when I went to the shrine in Gnisis, I could activate it and was told there was an entry in my journal, but there was no such entry...

Which version of the MPP are you using?

Yes... the Pilgrim's Path book (actually, the script on it) has always been an annoyance with a few mods. Mostly the MPP, but I recall a few other mods that also cause this bug.
You should still be be able to do all the Pilgrim quests without any problems.
Try throwing the book away, waiting three days, then getting a new copy of the book. That damn script causes such silly problems like this.

Anyone can read the book. There is no "heretic" setting/command in the game.

...
Can you still complete the Gnisis Shrine quest?
That quest can be initiated by anyone at anytime, so a missing Journal entry shouldn't be connected to your Pilgrim Path bug at all.

Hi ya, thanks for the reply.

Umm off the top of my head I have the most recent stable version of the MPP, I think - either that or the last "beta" one?
The shrine still activates yes, and I wrote down all of the other locations anyway. I mean it's not *vital* that I do the temple thing - (although being a temple member has saved me some hassle!), it's just a little puzzling and that sort of thing always makes me think that it might possibly be indicative of something else and I've invested so much time in the game so far...!
I might you idea of throwing the book away actually and seeing what happens after that!

I believe BTB's edit of the Morrowind Patch Project fixes this issue. You might want to use his version instead of the 'official' one.

And you can get that edited version from http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html, along with other mods he recommends.

BTB's MPP edit? BTBGI is not required to use it.

No, it has nothing to do with it actually.

I've run into a bug like that before, but I just couldn't read the book the priestess gave me. I could still read one sitting on a shelf in the temple. Have you tried reading a different copy?

Thanks all!

I'll check out BTB's version - (and possibly some other bits too)...

I've also ditched the book to whether getting it again or another one "resets" it.
