Pink Floyd

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:51 pm

Pink Floyd apparently set up a deal with EMI and are re-issuing all records. Their 14 studio albums will be released on that day to all record stores, as well as a box set containing the 14 studio albums and and a 6 disc version of Dark Side of the Moon will also be up for purchase, as well as another 6 disc version of Wish You Were Here will be released a few months after. (November 6th) A greatest hits compilation record will also be released. On Febuary 27th a 7 disc version of The Wall will be re-issued and released. As well as a special editions of Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and Wish You Were Here will be released on Vinyl, CD and other digital formats will be up for sale.

The box set and other editions that I mention will hold unheard tracks, live cuts, concert videos and more by Pink Floyd.

What are your thoughts? - I personally listen to Pink Floyd when I play Bethesda games as well as other games and while I sleep.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the release date for the box sets and the 14 re-issued studio albums. it will be on September 26-27th, and be available for purchase after that day as it has always been.

Yeah if I had the money I'd be down. Not something I'd skimp and save for though - I like PF but I'm not their biggest fan.

I also put possibly, and my reason is also lack of funds. It would be very cool to have.

I love Pink Floyd, but I absolutely hate everything they did from The Wall onwards, even Animals is toeing the line a bit.
The terrible 80's production values, the cheesy drum fills, they just kind of degraded into generic stadium rock. Don't even get me started on Pulse (slapping bass, weird 80's percussionist bouncing around).

Meddle is where it's at, and Live in Pompeii is possibly the greatest live album of all time.

I was a board member of the Pink Floyd coffeeshop in Amsterdam when it existed (renamed into one of the dampkring coffeeshops two years ago)

And since I already have all their music, I don't think I'll be getting the re-releases..

probably.

The ones that I'm really interested are the unreleased tracks, the live concert footage might be nice as well. Hopefully Vegetable Man is amongst those released, but I have doubts that it will be.

Not everything they did post Wall is bad, but some of it is definitely suspect.

If I could just get a compilation of their middle work ('73 through '79) I would definitely get it. Maybe I would include The Final Cut. I'm a huge fan of this body of work, the rest for me is of questionable quality.

What this set really needs : you know that bit in 'Point me at the sky', when Roger Waters snuck into the studio when everyone else had gone home, and turned his bass bit up really, ridiculously loud? They need to slap him across the back of the head, NCIS style, turn it down to a reasonable level, and re-release it.

This. I couldn't be more satisfied with Pink Floyd. Re-buying their albums, or buying a collection for its collectors value does not interest me.

Maybe I'm just feeling cynical today, but I think with Floyd there does seem to be a certain amount of "how many times can we sell the same stuff to their fans?" from the record companies. I guess the unreleased stuff would be nice for the hardcoe fans, but it would've been nicer to release it as its own album along the lines of Relics; and I can't help wondering if there's a reason they weren't released in the first place...

I could do with a new copy of Meddle, I suppose, since my CD's so badly produced it sounds even worse than the cassette did. In fact it sounds like they used my cassette as the master tape, after being sick on it and giving it a good crinkle first.

I will certainly be buying everything up to The Wall. I've been waiting for Floyd to remaster for ages. :celebration:

I agree they are overrated, but they still have some good music.

I probably wont buy any of the cds because I already have all of the good ones.

If I had the money to throw around, I'd probably buy it. I love the majority of Pink Floyd's work, but I don't actually physically own any of it (as in on CD or vinyl). Having all of their records (even though I don't like all of them) on vinyl would be awesome.

I will definitely buy DSOTM, The Wall, and Wish You Were Here on vinyl. IF I have the funds. If I do it's a sure fire purchase, at least for The Wall (one of my favorite albums of all time) Too bad they don't have The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn or Animals for vinyl.

I already bought their "Oh by the way" all album set for like $120+ so no . I have seen a concert of Roger Waters and have gotten the David Gilmour special edition of live at Gdnask.
I think I have bought enough of pink floyd.
