So of all the bugs in the game, this might be the most annoying. The pip boy workbench tab almost never displays the correct values for my settlements. Sometimes it even will show 0 under food, water, and defense. When I fast travel and go to the workshop screen everything is as it should be but then I get the "you should know/bed situation" comment from my settlers dispite having more than enough beds. So not only is it displaying incorrect information but the game is responding as if the information displayed is indeed correct. Please fix this Bethesda.
