Unpacked my FO4 Pip-Boy edition today and started playing with the knobs, dials and buttons as you would expect.
To my horror the "Selector Button" depressed right into the body at an angle and wouldn't come back out.
I couldn't believe the unit was broken after being unpacked for about 3 minutes so I decided to disassemble it to see what was wrong.
After unscrewing the top from the wrist housing I discovered the selector button was only attached with a single screw yet should have been attached with two.
Not only that, the screws that attach the button have a flanged head and smaller thread size and one of those screws had been used to attach the top to the housing.
I put the button back into it's correct position and reattached it correctly with the two flange head screws.
On top of this, when I was reattaching the top, one of the self-tapping screws now turns in it's plastic threaded hole as the hole appears to have been chewed in the factory.
When screwing in self tappers that have been previously screwed in I always turn the screw slightly counter clockwise until the threads "click" to ensure I don't cut a new thread but this thread was already damaged.
I'll have to fill this hole with glue or something to repair it.
This "toy" adds about $100 AUD to game price over here in Oz so it's not exactly cheap.
I'm really, really disappointed Bethesda, I expected much better QA here.
I have pics but as a new user can't upload them or post links.
