Pip-Man Fever! What Pip-Boy games should there be?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:46 am

So now with all the fancy stuff they're doing with the Pip-Boy, including playable arcade games, which sort of games do you think there should be?

We've got Missile Command, a classic and very fitting for Fallout. We've got "Red Scare" as a Donkey Kong clone, odd but welcome. What else could there be? Captain Cosmos as Space Invaders or Galaga? Pip-Boy munching dots in a maze as commie ghosts close in on him? T?les of Chivalrie Joust? Grognak the Barbarian in a CYOA Thy Dungeonman 3 type game? The possibilities are endless! How about Doom? It's not a computer unless it can run Doom.

On a side note, do you think adding new ones through modding will be possible? As far as I am aware no one has been able to mod new casino games into New Vegas, but the new mod tools and how these games are implimented may lend themselves to easier modding.

There was Reign of Grelok on one of the terminals in Fallout 3.

Surely it wouldn't take up that much space to put one of these in the game?

The first 2 fallouts in there complete form.

Ok maybe not that but just throw in all the classics and I'll never leave that dead scientists body.

I would love to play Snake. I'm not allowed to post links, but you know which game I'm talking about.

Snake 2 from the Nokia Phone

and

Oregon Trail.

Pong simple to implement plus entertaining and keeps me distracted for hours....it'll probably distract me to the point where I'll solely play pong and not fallout......

I second a text-based Thy Dungeonman style game. :D Bonus points if "Ye cannot get ye flask." ;)

You mean that commie garbage!? In the Fallout universe, diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union are cordial, but to the public, they are still sworn enemies of freedom. I don't think something like Tetris would make much sense, given that it's a Soviet game.

Oregon Trail I think would be a fun twist.

Since Fallout is a retro-future game, loosely based on the idea of how the future would look from a 1950s perspective, the Oregon Trail could be rewritten to be a version of Fallout (Apocalypse) as imagined by retro-future 1950s culture.

Instead of a covered wagon, you play a lone wanderer in a post-nuclear world that constantly dies of radiation, poison, starvation, etc.

Additionally, it'd be even more fun if some of the games, like Oregon Trail style game, or an old text-based Infocom style games, like Zork, referenced in-game locations that can only become available for exploration after playing the data disc game. :D

That would give some extra incentive to play the mini-games.

It managed to get to us in the real world just fine. Besides, China became the biggest commie threat after the Soviet territories ran out of oil.

Donkey Kong isn't american irl. Doesn't mean it shouldn't/couldn't make it in game under a different name and style.

It did
Tetris is do-able

But how should they all be given the Fallout paint? We don't have Donkey Kong and Jumpman in 'Red Scare', we have some wierd arrow guy and Vault Boy.

Several crates of nuka cola side by side and whatnot in the shape of tetris blocks, being loaded into a truck.

  • Honestly, tetris is pretty universal as it is.
  • Pac Man could be replaced with a Power Armor Soldier and the Ghosts become Chinese Soldiers. Added points for making the dots in the form of oil drops.
  • pinball fits the 1950s, just take inspiration from the real world
  • pong with a science makeover, shooting little laserbeams from reflecting mirrors? when you beat a level you get a science quote/propaganda
  • don't remember the name of the game right now - the one where you have to push crates in a certain way to make your exit from a level. that one would fit, too.

I've been thinking about being able to play games on a pipboy since fallout 3... and now, I can't think of too many games I would actually want to play beyond the ones shown...
