Pipboy addition ideas

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:40 pm

I want to be able to set more than just 1 checkpoint, maybe highlight the one I want to go to. I wanna keep track of more than just one interesting location to loot/visit later on.

and make the geiger counter visible for ps3 version because it wasn't in FO3.

You're joking right? Of course it was. It was that liddle needle ticker in the corner of your Pipboy

I would just like to be able to wear the pip boy on either arm.

I like the idea of being able to get upgrades for your pip boy!

A notepad would be very handy, and maybe a tide watch or something so you know what the tide is like (could be useful in real life) with a calander and lunar measurer or something which tells you hwat the moon is going to be like....

Custom map markers would indeed be on my wish list. I can't tell you how often in Fallout 3 there were places I saw I hadn't explored yet but seemed interesting, but alas I was headed for something else first. I wish I could have added notes to the map markers so I wouldn't forget later on like I often did.

As mentioned by the OP: Notes! I don't want to have to write every single door which I can't unlock down on a piece of paper. If I can just add a map marker and write a few words that would be PERFECT!!!!!!

The answer that eludes me is: Why isn't it called a pimp boy 3billion?

And also if we have an audible alarm it would be perfect for sneak characters

you: almost there, easy does it...aaaaaaaand-

pimp boy: beep beep beep beep beep 'time for bed' beep beep beep beep

deathclaw: raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you: [censored]

ps. @jara of the black wind

hope you don't mind me sigging you

Honestly, I wish they kept the Pip Boy 3000 closer to that concept. It also seemed to indicate more mini-tasks as well as more area descriptions were originally planned. If only. Too bad.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind if there was a bunch of random useless features on the pip-boy. Just to indicated that the character has an option to do something when they're bored. Otherwise, maybe more subcategories. For example, under aid, you could have sections for Food, drugs, and liquids. Or on armor, it could be separated into Clothing, Armor, accessories, and headgear.

Because I'm sure me and several other Fallout fans would set Obsidians offices on fire, thats why.

Whenever that happened to me, I just wrote down the grid it was in and a description to remind myself to go back and check it out.

I think adding a good flashlight will be good (Yes, we need flashlights, not that dinky little Pip-boy light  ).
Also, we need a layout modification to make it more convenient and organized...

definitely needs the ability to add written notes, to remember combinations etc (like the vases on Point Lookout).

Oh, and a way to sub-organise your stuff eg:

weapons > energy weapons/automatic/handgun/fire/sticks/
apparel > powerarmour/raider stuff/jumpsuits/thongs etc

and the ability to "send all" to a locker, in a similar way that you can "take all" from a locker (although not pip-boy exactly, but the game needs that)

Well if the geiger counter was visible, then why would they need to 'add it in new vegas because it wasnt in F3' if it was in F3? :bonk:

just make it visible. least for me lol
i dunno why it didn't show, but seeing as everything else was fine with the game i wonder why i couldn't see it
besides that, I wouldn't know much what I could add to the pipboy besides what's going to be added by hardcoe mode
i like that idea to put guns, appearal&the rest in sub-groups for a bit better overview if wanted (I always used to carry loads of things, espcially guns, in FO3)

I think just notes/alarm system/clock would be necessary, and a calculator would seem perfectly reasonable, and it's not hard to do, just like limit it to 9999 for the inputs, and have adding subtracting multiplying and dividing. Yay! Maybe a note pad type thing to put in your inventory too if you want to.

It would be cool to have like some log book, optional but it would be cool to have for hardcoe mode, for traveling in the desert.
