PipBoy App Will Not Connect. Scans for device continuously.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:55 am

I am trying to connect my pipboy app to the game. I am able to connect my current verizon phone, an htc one m8, to the game with no issues, but it doesn't fit inside my pipboy so instead I am trying to connect my old droid razr. It is a Verizon phone that is disconnected from the Verizon network, but it can connect to my home wireless network and the Xbox One via the XBox One Glass app. When I attempt to connect to the Xbox One in the pipboy app, it just says scanning for devices forever. I tried to connect to the PS4 as a test, which I do not have to see what it would do, and it says it can't find the device and does not continuously search as it does when trying to connect to the Xbox One. Because it doesn't say it can't find a device for the Xbox One connection makes me think that it can see it, but cannot connect to the app for some reason. Again the glass app works but the pipboy app does not. The operating system on the droid razr is 4.1.2. Thanks!

I was directed here for help by an automated email from Bethesda's "support" site. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the issue I am having? Thanks.

So, if the Pip-Boy app is asking you for login information, your Xbox Smart glass settings are too strict, even if the Smart Glass app itself works fine. You have to go into the Smart glass settings and change it from only allowing Smart Glass connections from users logged into this Xbox, to Allow ALL connections.

I also keep getting stuck on the "Scanning for Devices" screen, even though everything is on the same network and working fine. I dont know what to do. :/

The pipboy app never asks for login information. When you click to connect to the Xbox One it just continuously scans for devices. I let it sit for two hours and it was still scanning. The phone is able to connect to the smart glass app though without any issues. I have the setting configured in the Xbox One to allow all connections for smart glass already, but thanks for the suggestion.

I am able to connect to the game with the app on my newer current phone, but it is too big for the pipboy. So it's not the network settings, or the xbox settings. My htc one m8 connects, but my old droid razr does not. Thanks.

actually try this. turn off any other device that you use to connect to the xbox with smart glass or any other program. I was having the issue that it kept scanning, after a bit of playing with it I could see the xbox on network, but still would not connect. so I restarted Everything. I am not talking reboot, completely shut off and unplug

I only had my phone and my tablet. I just turned off my phone and tablet. Then turned off and unplugged my xbox, the unpluged my router. restart router, xbox, then only restart my tablet. worked first try after.

What I am thinking is there maybe a conflict when more than one devices trys to use the app or the app is not closing the connection completely.

posted this in another thread. the issue is not other devices being connected. my iphone and tablet connect fine, its the OS.

"so i bit the bullet and rooted my droid razr so that i could install android 4.4.4 (kitkat). it works now. I dont know bethesdas forum rules so i am not linking any tutorials, but after taking my phone from 4.2.1 to 4.4.4 and restarting my xbox, this phone is finally working. looks like the app description needs to be updated for which os versions work with the app. hope this helps someone."
