Pipboy World Map

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2009 11:36 am

Is there a way to upload a new world map into the Pipboy? As in, if i were to take a map of a 50mi x 50mi section of outer Mongolia how would I get that image to be the Pipboy map?

Also, how do I link a new location I create to an icon on the Pipboy world map?

Thanks for the help.

Replace one or both of these files:

\textures\interface\worldmap\wasteland_1024_no_map.dds
\textures\interface\worldmap\wasteland_2048_no_map.dds

There are other files in the unpacked texture archive. I'm not sure which ones are used for what or that all of them are used at any time or used at all.

Unpack the texture archive to see all the files. Replacing one or other or both of the above files should be sufficient to replace the displayed map.

I'm actually waiting for a colored version of the map although I don't know how useful it would be.

When I say "replace" the file I mean create a folder "\textures\interface\worldmap\" in the "data" folder and put a new file with the above name in that folder. Use the ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated! Mod to override the stock texture.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. Do you know how to get locational reference icons to show up on the map?

No, I've never messed with the location icons.

I only know that you can add and remove icons, you can even add your own icons for custom locations. I just don't know how.

I'm sure the method is recorded somewhere in this forum or the FO3 forum or in the GECK Wiki.

The object is a "MapMarker", it is a Static object in the GECK. I assume you place the marker in the cell when the cell is designed. I do not know how the marker is enabled/disabled or made visible/hidden such as when you discover the location.

There's a static object called MapMarker. You can play with all the settings of the object one you place it in the world, just double click. :)
