Piper: How to "Reset" flirting dialogues?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 7:19 pm

Hi,
I've been playing F04 for many hours now and I have managed to receive the Gift of Gab perk from gaining the highest affinity level with Piper, my companion. However.. when the "events" came up every 250 affinity points, I avoided ever attempting to "Flirt" or "Romance" with her because my Charisma is low and I was afraid it may make the NPC not like me or something of that nature. I did this because I assumed later on I would have however many tries I wanted at "Flirting" with the companion. This turned out not to be true when I got to 1000 affinity pts. with Piper and our dialogue only consisted of "Thoughts?" and "Relationship," of which never gave me the option to flirt.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could reset her affinity to the point where I can redo those dialogues with her and attempt to "Flirt." I HAVE tried all of the (setav CA_affinity and modav and getav) but, when I set it to a lower value and check it with getav she does not redo the dialogue events that I experienced first time. For example: I set the affinity value to 745 then picked a lock to gain more affinity points, she does not trigger the event where she talks about her sister, she is the same as she was before. And when I ask about our relationship it says the same thing she says at 1000 pts. I have also tried to remove the Gift of Gab perk to see if that would reset it and it did not.

I would appreciate the most efficient way to reset the dialogue events of my companion Piper, in order to attempt at flirting with her.
Thanks!

P.S - My post is highlighted in white because I copied and pasted from my Bethesda Support Ticket

Don't worry. She will repeat those options forever, even if you don't take them or if you fail. Wanted Piper and couldn't get her the first time? She'll be open to your advances for the next infinite casual conversations. Decided against dating Preston, but still want to chat with him about something? Prepare to have him open himself up to your advances forever. It'll just trigger randomly between regular talk attempts.

Thank you, but what do you mean by "Regular talk attempts"?

Like where you press 'E' on them and Trade, Talk, etc. comes up? And you press talk? Or does she continue to create new dialogue events like the one about her sister, where she repeats something until you look at her to talk about something new. (Let me know if you don't know what I mean).

Also, since the point where I didn't get anymore "Flirt" options I have done a lot of things she liked, and nothing has come up. Soooooooo??

Flirt options are just there for flavour and rp purposes rly, and they are one time occurance. Romance option though comes back if you fail/say to be friends the first time you get it. Easiset way to trigger it for semms to be leave the companion you want romanced in one of your settlments and go wander around with soebody else for a while and when you come back after a while they will intitiate the romance dialouge again.(oh yeah and a tip for charisma checks just save in conversation and load if you fail it)

So they'll initiate a dialogue like I explained above?

With a phrase they continue to say?

I thought I screwed up with Piper, but at some time I walked past her with a different companion and she opened up dialogue. It started something like "So, all this talk about [insert something about friendship or being important to her]", which would give me another chance to romance her.

So by screwed up with Piper what do you mean? Like you attempted to flirt with her and she denied every time? Because I never even tried, as I explained above.

As i explained before the flirt options are there just for flavour/rp purposes they have no affect in game whatsoever, the only one that has the effect is the romance one you get when you reach max lvl affinity and that one if failed/turned down/say you want to be friends only will repeat itself endlesly over time i also posted a good way of getting it to triger so if you scroll up a bit there is a solution for you.

I did some checking, so try this:

SAVE YOUR GAME FIRST IN A NEW SLOT

enter the console and type:

setstage BBD96 500

leave the console and try to talk with piper. If she doesn't offer the romance option, enter the console again and type:

setstage BBD96 510

That (hopefully) will get her to force-greet the player regarding a romance.

Let me know if this works.

Just a footnote in case anyone else stumbles on this thread in the future...

Even though the OP demonstrated that the second setstage command worked, use both, in order, as it's possible that the first sets up the conditions that allows the second to work. I can't verify this at this time.
