I'd like to see smoking pipes, but not the modern ones like the one featured in the video of that Oblivion mod Mithrys posted.
I'd prefer something more tribal or exotic like Indian pipes.

Maybe sitting to smoke a pipe could restore fatigue quicker than just walking.

smoking restore fatigue ?
no,that's fail.
smoking should damage fatigue.
(at least that's what it does in reality)

As an animation we may see every so often in NPCs, sure that'd be cool. I'm not sure about our own character doing it.

Yes, they can make you look sophisticated. That alone is enough reason why.

It would be neat if specific alchemical ingredients had to be smoked to use their effects.

This also. Or there can be more ways than one of getting same effects.

I don't think the game should encourage drugs. :batman: Unless it added "mouth cancer" and "lung cancer" along with "high blood pressure" and other negative health effects for the added realism.

There should be chocolate. Tastes wonderful and it is healthy! Hot cocoa, chocolate bars, chocolates, chocolate fondue, cacao nibs, cocoa powder, etc.

Oblivion already featured drugs use.
Did you forget the quest included at the S.I. expansion pack where you are inside that huge dungeon you get inside from a tree ?
And you find the tree's nectar and you then start having brain and body effects that are good at first, but after a while you start getting drawback aftereffects and you get addicted and you have to find the one who gives you the anti-addiction drug to end your addiction ?

Of course we need pipe smoking! Nothing says "Hey! I'm a pompous ass!!" like a pipe.

Yes.. I was extremely jealous in Fallout that the NPC's could smoke and that I couldn't. I think any tobacco product should be a consumable. I would also like to see drug use in a game with added affects. If I drink too much I want a spinny, blurry affect.. maybe even vomit. If a game is rated mature anyway.. Why do they go out of their way to still stick limits on what a character is allowed to do. I still have good memories of Gothic 2.. The weed effect (it only lasted like 15 seconds but it was fun.) And being amazed when I first saw an NPC urinate on a tree.

I watched the video of the smoking mod, and along with the music, thought it was pretty good.

Can somebody tell me who the musical artist was in that vid?

Thanks

If the game is going to have a Mature rating then I don't see it as a problem to include pipes. The more basicly meaningless items there are that the player can use for just roleplaying purposes the better. Hell yeah, smoking a pipe and playing a lute.

I don't see why not. All the greatest people in history smoked pipes.

It should decrease fatigue as you use it and have no real benefit, just be there for effect, maybe. Though I heard that pipes are less bad for you than cigars and cigarettes, although I'm too lazy to confirm that, so don't take my word.

In general I don't like smoking, so I wouldn't bother with it in the game, but more importantly I'd rather the developers spent their time on other more meaningful stuff. Not saying you're not correct, but maybe instead of having it be a player-action, there can just be people smoking around you, pure animation. Still immersion.

My grandma and two of my great uncles died of lymphatic and lung cancers from smoking but i really dont think its a big deal. If a grouping of pixels makes you start smoking then you kinda dont deserve to not suffer the consequences.

I registered here millions of years ago, but forgot, kekekekekekeke, anyway, to smoke or not to smoke, that is the question, oops, wrong play,
Yes I would like to see, if not for my char, at least for NPC's, and oh they can cough a lot, to put people of the idea of taking a puff, why do I support it, well it would make the game more real life,

I will ask you a question. Does killing people in the game encourage us to kill people in real life?

If your answer is "yes," you should not be playing video games and should encourage everyone you meet to avoid video games as well. If your answer is "no," then the sentence I quoted above is ignorant.

Well thats can be idle animation for NPC like in oblivion,
question in this, can player character start an NPC idle animation when activating an object in game?
Thats can be nice part of Radiant Story system when NPC give player small quest-task.

I heard this from someone before too, and I think what you're smoking makes a difference too, but it may all not be well for your lungs being smoke, so maybe it could have a temporary lasting effect on your fatigue.

Well I occasionally smoke a tobacco pipe in real life (I think I have my pipe in my avatar, tho its very blurry) so it would be cool to have my character ingame be able to do it. Pipe smoking seems like a Nordic and old fashion thing to do. Also, I hope skooma pipe return and allow you to actually use them, kind of like the eating animations.

Only if I could enchant it so that a smoke screen could appear. Unfortunatly, anoriginal idea for a unique enchant like that will never happen in this game as far as I can tell :sadvaultboy:

Or,

Since they're so proud of the wind and tree swaying, how about some bubble pipes so we can merrily follow the bubbles wildly like children so often do and relive our youthful days while still appreciating the dichotomy (falls off cliff) of the fast rushing ground!!! AHHH! I"m gonna die!!!!!

So

NO! No pipes! :stare:
