Pirate build advice and RP help

Post » Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:26 pm

Okay so basically, I'm thinking of making a redguard pirate/corsair, and I need ideas on what sort of build would suit a pirate character (including weapons he will be using).

Also, I need advice RP wise on what factions he would join, and what clothes he would be wearing.

You on PC? There is a pirate light armor mod that is cool. if not you could use the Al'akir garments. One-handed, Speech, Lockpicking all seem to be something a pirate does. Besides that though, it is going to be difficult, you never go out to the open seas, and there is really no way i can see RPing a Pirate with no ship, no crew, no sea related quests. you might as well be a mercenary, maybe with a backstory of being a pirate at one point.

To wear I'd say clothes with alteration mage armor,

For attack I'd go one handed & archery.

Bruh, every Redguard pirate needs a Scimitar. I cannot stress this enough.

Also, for the quests, I recommend doing:

  • http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Rebel%27s_Cairn_(quest) (if your pirate is feeling a bit land-locked)
  • And if your pirate somehow ends up joining the CoW for some strange and incomprehensible reason: http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Forgotten_Names

for a pirate character

Spoiler
the Katariah (Emperors Ship) from the end of the DB can make a rather good home... full of safe containers, most beds are usable (only the Emperors are not).. full of crafting stations..

Yeah I'm on PC mate. I'll check it out. Cheers

And the Katariah sounds like a great idea for a home. I think a pirate turned assassin would suit this character well (which coincidentally is the storyline for assassins creed 4 :D). I could also take the path of becoming a mercenary for a little while, it sounds very appealing

I've never checked but does the ship disappear after you finish a certain quest line?

nope, once you kill the "VIP" on the ship, it just stays there indefinitely. and as such, makes a great player home... if only I could move my family there from Solitude...

It does not.

Anyways, you definitely need a scimitar. The one aboard said ship has a unique one, and the two from the "Deathbrand" quest are pretty good too.

The ship has been quite a dragon magnet the few times I've been there...

Well, like others mentioned, a scimitar.

And the Dark Brotherhood could indeed work for a pirate, so you could use the ship.

And what's more badass than a pirate killing the emperor on his own ship?

I could use UFO and get a whole band of mercenaries/pirates together and board the ship! It'd be a good ol' fashioned pirate raid haha

Then I can make custom followers and put them on the ship permanently as my crew

I considered a pirate who uses dark magic and has his own undead crew.

But your's is probably better. :D

Nice :D

As for what to wear ( it didn't seem like you got too many answers on that one ) I say wear either the default Redguard clothing OR the unique red version that http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Nazir wears, scimitar(s) are a must as well :D

I like the whole idea of claiming ownership of the ship once done that certain quest for a certain group BUT are the containers safe to store things in? Is it like the abandoned shack, where you gotta return every 9 days to avoid the respawn? Cause if it is, I NEVER remember to return , I'm always too busy and caught up in what I'm doing at the time :D Which results in me losing all the stuff I stored :stare:

yep, I believe all the containers on the ship are safe for storage (except for one or two the the Emperors room)

UESP lists that ship as safe, apparently entirely. Though you can't sleep in the main bed everything else is fair game. No NPCs respawn either. There is some talk of wacky physics on that page but they seem to be rare.

Since I can see you're on PC, get the Immersive Armours mod from the Nexus.

It includes a couple of pirate outfits, plus theres a few eyepatch mods out there!!
